do you put your lens cap back on when you do that? cause a few times i forgot to put on my lens cap and did that going to the bathroom, got quite a few funny looks.

Well, it's understandable. You can cause a lot of damage and have some pretty bad experiences when your lens is pointing out...especially if it gets caught on peoplemostlyothermen as you're walking by. I mean, Dan's so tall, sometimes he's smacked people in the face.

I don't think I'd need it with a 40 or 50D. But my XT is now so much more comfortable in my hand. I haven't taken it off in a week, nor do I plan to.

I would be common for anyone to get funny looks if they walked into a public restroom with their lens unprotected, hangin' out there like that. It's odd, and actually pretty scary to strangers - especially women.

excuses... do you live near Vanguard, Avalon, or any of those clubs? see if they'll let you take your cam into a club like that, it's pretty easy these days, at least in Chicago. back when I started (not very long ago - Sep 2006) - you needed like a note from the Mayor to get your cam into Vision (exaggerating). Nowadays, there are regularly like dozens of people with SLR's in the club.

I got the 50 1.8 too (I know I put it on my equipment list in another thread, but I knew I was getting it for x-mas)
Lens is awesome.

Was debating on the grip, but I'm going to wait until I upgrade.
Maybe the next Rebel or the 50D

As was I. But at $50 for a new grip, I couldn't pass it up.

Obviously should have posted the problem I was having with my lens extending all by itself in this thread.

not that I doubted you for even one second, but DAMN did this work well.

My Monopod should have been here today, just checked the tracking number again. UPS was closed for ground deliveries today, and of course tomorrow. Friday. My 10stop ND got here today via USPS.

I was looking at getting a Monostat, but they're too short. So I went with a Gitzo 3551 at 75" max height.

B&H has the Monostat's for sale. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont....y=0&Go=submit

I ordered a 50D tonight!

I could no longer resist the temptation.

Now I just have to decide whether to sell the XT or hang onto it as a backup.

Hang on to it, you're not going to be able to get much for it. And it's still a good camera, and

Wow

Wish I'd known about that a couple weeks ago when I purchased a Lexar 300x 8GB card. Oh well, I just ordered a 4GB one and will get a $20 rebate.

My 8GB Sandisk is corrupt and I lost the pix I took of the xmas tree at Rockefeller and some of the ice on the trees at home.

If you still have the card, you can probably restore the pics. Actually, sandisk usually includes software with their cards called photorescue or something like that.

I used Photo Rescue and it found some long-deleted photos that I don't need, but it didn't find the files from my 2 latest shoots, which of course are the ones that I need.

Stogie has offered to try to find the files for me, so I'll be sending the card to him. The files aren't terribly important, but I would like to see them.

I plan on getting a quote from Keh, just to see what their offer is. I may or may not sell it depending on how much they give me.

Hmm, est. $210 from Keh. I may sell it afterall. That would bring the price of the 50D to about $800.

Give this a try, I just read that one guy was able to use and got back over 200 images. This after using PR.
