Good shots, cute kid.

The one with the toy is a little overexposed and flat. The first two, specially 2, have good backlight/separation and contrast.

nice shots and +1 to the cute kid.

lighting looks good, but the shadow on the ground from the roof is a little distracting.

This is a good start. You have a cute and willing "model."

My suggestion would be to either have him completely in the shade or completely in the sun. The shadow is messing with the lighting.

Also, move the subject around the image a bit more. His head is nearly dead center in all of them. You should try fill more of the frame with him - less head room - and move him to the sides of the frame.

I actually really like that bit of shadow coming diagonally through the frame.

that's how the jacket is...it's like a gradient (or fade)...

in all of these pics he is completely in the shade, none of his body or head being hit by the sun,the only lighting on him is comming from the flashes.

i think the fact that u can SEE the shade area,is what might make the picture less appealing. i got the exact effect i wanted from this session,i was attempting what i have read in books about putting the subject in the shadow and using lighting to show them.

IMO #3,6,7 (L->R) are perfect examples of what i mean about the shadow not showing and making a less distracting/better picture all together.
and #3 is my attempt of having him off center and closer frame..because i did feel i was being too center focused in the frame also

thanks for all your guys' C&C! im def gonna be shootin more and more,i just picked up a shoot thru umbrella and honl snoot,so its gonna be fun!
