Be prepared for dillholes on craigslist.....
I would state it's a local sell only and cash is the only payment method. I would also meet them at a local Police Station. If you put that in the post, the assholes won't even bother with you, well most.

my only issue with CL is when I say "price is firm" and I still get the asshats that will email me making a lower offer, oftentimes a lowball offer.
so now I put in the ad... "Please don't email me with a lowball offer, I will not reply"

me personally. I use Amazon to sell. I'd rather pay their fees vs going to sites and potentially getting low balled and paying fees as well. Plus amazon is easier to deal with than paypal for disputes.

Yeah, true. When I sold the Canon printer that came with the 6D, I got about ten emails a day from people asking "is it still available?" That was all they wanted to know, didn't want to buy it. It was like they worked for CL and needed to check and make sure your 'for sale' shit is still for sale... Killed me, when I would email them back and ask if they were interested and they would say "no, I was just seeing if it was still for sale."

Even "I`m interested" doesn`t guaranty a sale. Bigger items sell from your home, smaller items in a public place like Home depot. And cash means cash! No personal checks or even bank checks.
A guy comes over to buy my snowblower he says I`m interested. Okay I`ll bite. He wanted to low ball the hell out of me and I wouldn`t budge one penny off the price. If he wanted to haggle a little, sure. Then he was nice to me and said I`m sorry for trying to low ball you.
I said "have a nice day" go F*** yourself.
Only time I had an issue with selling on CL. All the other times smooth and good sales.

I buy and sell on CL all the time, I've never ever had to ship anything or buy from someone that wanted to ship... It's pretty much implied with CL.

So, my 70-200 has a little caveat. When the lens is points down and hit minimum focus, it gets "stuck"...pointing the lens up undoes that right away. Its something its done for years, and I've just worked around it, no big deal.
But now I want to sell the lens, and I took it Nikon for an estimate. They want $400 (after a $90 discount) to repair it. I took it to a well regarded local shop for a 2nd opinion and they said only Nikon can do it. I looked at trading it in to Samy's and their offer is is terrible (and they don't even know it has that caveat) and of course if I did trade and the new buyer has an issue I don't want Samy's trying to come after me.
So, do I sell "as is" at a reduced price...or do I shell out the money to fix it and just hope I recoup the repair cost with the sale?

You're probably best off selling for around "as is" letting them know its a $400 repair. Maybe ask $800.

Yeah...just curious who is going to read the who description of the issue...which isn't an issue if you aren't shooting near minimum focus...and on this lens, you shouldn't be. There is also a small blemish on the front element near the outer edge. has no effect on the image, period...but I know how buyers are...

Disclose everything and toss it on there. If they come back, show them the ad.
It'll sell though, there are plenty of "pro" photographers looking to replace their kit lens with something bigger for cheap.

Yeah, this is what Im putting
Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR AF-S G w/ hood & bag
NOTE about this lens: This has been my work horse lens. It has a small blemish on the edge of the of the front element which does not effect the image at all at any focal length. It also has a weird tick, where if it can hang up at minimum focus…quickly pointing the lens up frees it. Even with this little “tick” this lens has served me well for years, and I’ve never missed a shot because of it (I never use this lens for minimum focus work). This lens has also shot several national interviews for TV, and many commercials. I have decided to sell the lens “AS IS” because it never slowed me down. I have a service estimate from Nikon I can give you if feel the need to get it done. Their service center is located around mid-Wilshire.

Yeah it was. Just reminds me of when I went to sell my D3, and while the potential buyer was using the super conductor went bad...Lost the sale, cost me $300 to fix, and I eventually sold it, but it was a bitter taste in my mouth.
Just makes switching to Fuji a little less painful I guess.

^ Looks expensive (and it is at ~$2k)...I can only imagine what Sony would charge for their equivalent lens.
On another note, I think I'm going to sell my Batis 85 and FE 28 to pick up a Batis 25. I use the 28 literally all the time and have used the 85 maybe once or twice. In reality I'm waiting for a 135mm lens for Sony since that would really put me in telephoto whereas the 85 is not quite there.
I'd love to get the Batis 18 as well but they are very expensive and hard to find. Another option would be to get the 16-35 f4 for the same price but then I'm overlapping focal lengths for no real reason.
Thoughts?

The 85mm focal length is more or less a portrait lens, if you don't find yourself using it much, no point in keeping it. I love my Batis 85mm though, but that's just me

...as for the other focal lengths, I'd get the 16-35mm F4 and call it a day, you stop down for landscapes anyways, the only time I can think of where you need faster aperture is for astrophotography, and believe it or not, you can pull that off with F4
