I also don't understand the 24fps vs. 30fps thing. I know the effect of 24fps is more "movie like", but could you not just rip out 6 frames in processing? I would think it's easier to remove frames than to add them...

the 5D adds three distinct modes for AF during live view—color contrast and facial recognition, an "quick" mode which quickly drops the mirror.
reading all these early hands-on reviews... Canon is obviously hooking the grubby hands of many a tech people with these fine specimens. And, I DEMAND to know why I was excluded...!

BUT if you shoot to CF, hard drive, flash drive, etc. Then, you can do that...but take up the extra storage needed to handle that when, like a film camera you can just shoot 24fps? It also allows for realtime playback of sped up or slowed down footage shot off a 24fps timeline...like slow mo at 48fps.
Like Bill said...it gets much deeper than this, but that is a basic jist.

That brings up random video related bitch of mine. Almost everything shot on video now days has (or tries to have) the same color pallet as film. Even my $700 consumer camcorder. I grew up with the soap opera look and sort if miss that life like appearance video used to provide over film. Certain content more than others.
But porn is porn...I think they probably shoot 30fps for web content at this point.

you have to remember these are pre production so they probably have fixed alot of things in the ones that will ship.
