Beats me. I've been on the video forums part of day reading all the incessant crap. I'm over it all...damn this bum ankle.

I moving more than I have been. Just wearing the aircast and walking/hobbling around. If I take the brace off then I feel like I might roll it again based on the freer movement/pain.

I have an appt with my foot/ankle (thankfully he is in the workers comp med network) and we'll see from there.

I dont want to draw on comp too long, but I dont want to rush either considering what I do and how physical it is.

I wonder if that would affect frame rate/burst numbers - not sure if it would help either, but you never know.
all the rumors said it would be there, and im sure they would mention something somewhere about it.

Isn't the sensor essentially a revised 1Ds sensor? I don't think there were ever complaints about image quality with that sensor so I doubt we'll see many with this one.

It is the 1DsIII sensor tweaked a little for the 5D, make it better. Then add the new DigicIV and makes it even better. The 5D had the Digic II chip.

The Canon appears to have less noise, but at the cost of sharpness. Some of the areas looked a little "blurred"

The Nikon has noise, that looks like grain, but is much sharper than the Canon.

A lot of light in that pic no? Does that really tell us anything? Would you even have the camera in 256 with all that light?

I think that would be pretty blown out.

shooting 1/8000th indoors is crazy - hell I don't think I've ever shot that fast outdoors, even on a sunny day.

Yes, I know THAT pic would have been. I just see that as a "real world" example. Most people would use a different ISO for that shot. I want to see shots that NEED high ISO.

Actually, there are some better examples in some of the other links.

I agree I'd like to see night shots, but 1/8000th indoors is 1/8000th indoors.

I just shot a pic at 25600 at 1/8000...it looks fine.

But I admit the markII wins on lack of grain. Though that almost kills it for me as well. The whole point of shooting a higher ISO in brighter light is because you want the grain.

It why Minority Report looked awesome.

this is just gonna be insanity in the clubs...

the SX1 IS also looks to be the SLR-like P&S I was waiting for... it has a CMOS sensor.

I'd be wary of this...most likely the camera or the canon software allow you pull a frame grab during or after filming. Quality might not be what you think.

Not sure how it would work otherwise without interrupting the video process.

It does interrupt the video process, you will have a 1 second gap.

ok the guy in the above video says it differently - and may be wrong - he says it allows photographers to "take still images while they're still filming in high definition". The following PC World says otherwise. This says that you can take a still picture quickly without having to switch modes. It will stop the video to take the picture. We'll have to see how this pans out as more info becomes available.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/15116...ml?tk=rss_news

Now, Canon's 5D Mark II transforms the landscape further by capturing 30 frames per second MPEG-4 video at 1920 by 1080p resolution. Canon says you can capture up to 12 minutes of high-def video with monoaural sound (approximately 4GB) or 29 minutes, 59 seconds of standard definition video. You can take a picture while recording a movie; the video stops while you snap a still, then it resumes recording. In addition to the built-in mono microphone, you can add an external stereo microphone. A Mini-HDMI port facilitates outputting video directly from the camera to an HDTV.

Live view movie mode

The 5D Mark II allows movies to be shot by selecting the movie display and pressing the 'SET' button to start shooting. Still images can be grabbed at any point during movie recording by pressing the shutter button, though doing so creates a one second gap in the video for each still taken. Contrast-detect AF is available during video capture, however it's pretty slow.
.

Quick Reply: It's official: 5D Mark II
