Critiques.

If you are trying to make her appear sexy, you are posing her in somewhat unsexy ways. You are also cropping out things that give a sense of sexiness pertaining to her body.

Arms, wrists, legs, calves, ankles, shoulder line, chest, breasts, neck line (always covered by her hair.)

Also, her nose can dominate her face...see pic 2...got find good angles like your last pic to slim it down and draw attention elsewhere.

lighting is decent, nice warm look...the hot spots in hair could be taken down, maybe diffused and softened and spread out more.

thanks, for the C&C.. i had alot of troubles with room...i was cramped in the room because literally i was at the foot of the bed (it took up the whole room)

as for cropping,i didnt crop any on cs3 other than #2, the room had clutter in the upper right that i was trying to eliminate..

i was using the light from the lamp as the hair light (it was just on in the corner and tried to use it to my advantage.)

thanks again,i always look foward to improving myself and appreciate the input!

no prob

by cropping, I also meant how you framed. If youre in a tight room, wider lens? Focus on sexier bits rather than an overall image?

We never see the lamp, you can toss a piece of diffusion on it.

i shoulda used my umbrella maybe...didnt even think of it actually.
shes got super small boobs so i dont know how i would work that lol but i know its just noob error. i was using my 18-55 on a 30D.

i honestly couldnt tell u where i was in each pic without lookin at the exif.

as for ur last comment about the over all image,i think you hit that one right on the head, cause im always trying to cram everything into the image.

Hey at least you have all these girls who let you practice. I can't even get my wife to let me light her.

This is mainly a boudoir shoot where you are trying to show her femininity and sexiness. I can tell she has it, but there are things you can do to help accentuate it.

First, I'd soften the light as much as possible. Get rid of the hot spots and let part of her fall into shadow.

Also, elongate her body as much as possible (without looking rediculous) and use DOF. Focus on the eyes and keep her female parts in the frame but allow them to get slightly out of focus. Often, using suggestion works better than flaunting the goods.

Closeness and point of view can help increase the intimacy of the shots. Get lower and show more of her. I know you were limited on space, so that can definitely be an issue. You do want to use as long a lens as you can while keeping as much of her in frame as possible. Using too wide of a lens could distort the body.

Keep shooting and posting. And of course, if there are some images that you can't post here that you'd like critique on, I'm always willing to help.

its funny that u mention the DOF...i cant seem to get a fuckin shot with bokeh to save my life...in all my pics they all come out fully in focus with very wide DOF..i dont know if thats user error or just my 18-55 not allowing me to get it. any suggestions on that?

as for nws pics ill let u know haha

Your closeup has DOF. Remember that DOF is related to aperture, focal lentgh and distance. The larger the aperture, the shallower the DOF. The longer the focal length, the shallower the DOF. The closer the camera is to the subject, the shallower the DOF.

So if you really want the most DOF, use the largest aperture you can, the longest focal length you can and get as close to the subject as you can. Of course, focal length and distance work against each other, so you have to balance those out to get the shot you want.

Wife complains that we don't take enough pictures together but won't let me practice on her. Nor will she entertain the idea of me shooting others besides family.

I wouldn't call it a rule, but eye contact will usually add to the picture. There are times when images work better without it, but it really depends on what you want to capture.

I would look through the G&N section of POTN. There are some good examples of boudoir shoots. Unfortunately, most of the posts by Eliza_Day seems to have lost the image links. She has some really good work.

Check out this thread on POTN. I really like this guy's work and it's worth searching for more posts of his.
