This is COOL!!!!!!
http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/31/w...ld-czech-libr/

If you think Google's seven-gigapixel renderings of world famous art museums are impressive, get a load of this: a guy named Jeffrey Martin just produced a record breaking panoramic photo of a reading room in Prague's Strahov monastery library, and it's got the internet giant's Art Project beat by more than 30,000 megapixels. Not that Google's pictures are anything to scoff at, but the 40-gigapixel, 360 degree, 283GB image is something of a digital masterwork. According to Wired, the photograph, taken in February on a GigaPanBot-mounted Canon 550D, is comprised of 2,947 unique images that took a computer program more than four days to stitch together. If you're a fan of 18th century European literature, Franz Anton Maulbertsch's trompe l'oeil paintings, or just ridiculously detailed digital photography, you can peep the image in its entirety at the source link.

Picked up one of these today (CL, used but like new cond.), I needed something that would carry more than the Lowepro fastpack 250... and something that's weather proof... AND something that would hold a tripod

but I gotta admit tho... putting everything in there that I'd like to have when I'm out and about (including the tripod), this IS a heavy ass bag (even for me), but oh well... I can deal with it.

I also can't tell you how many times I've been walking around Downtown Vancouver or Stanley Park... and it starts raining, and I'm like paranoid about getting my stuff wet (even tho my camera body is weather sealed, but the lenses aren't). This backpack has that cover if I need it.

My cab driver complained about how heavy my bag was last weekend. Admittedly, I had trouble getting it into the overhead compartments on my flights.

It was a Pro Trekker 300 (6.8 lbs) holding 2 7D's, a 70-200 2.8, 24-105, 50L, tokina 11-16, 60mm macro, 580EXII + assorted cords, cards, batteries, tele-extender & stuff. Oh, and my MBP. And a book.

The really fun part was shooting (and chasing) twin toddlers with it all (minus the book & laptop, thankfully!) on my back! With all the up & down & scrambling around for a couple of hours, my quads were sore!

the rain covers on Lowepro's All Weather stuff are awesome! I've always been glad to have them when it starts to rain.

and damn for $340 new, it's definitely something to snag on CL.

^^ yeah I have one and I love it! great value and great expression. I've had 2 Explored shots with it, one pretty much the day after I got it. I know that's not the only way to gauge a good shot but to me it's meaningful. :donerufflingmyfeathers:

here is an album of shots with that lens, if you wanna see

Speaking of ruffling feathers...I finally passed the $1000 print sale goal from a portrait session. She's still planning on ordering 4 books, too, once I get them designed.

This is the woman who flew me to San Antonio 2 weeks ago to shoot her twins while the TX Bluebonnets were blooming. Can every client be like this please??

I know it's fairly small potatoes to some of the wildly successful portrait photogs out there, but I'm very happy!

I picked up myself a Olympus e-pl1 on Thursday. So far I like it. A nice balance between a point and shoot and my dslr.

This morning I tried out the Microsoft Image Composite Editor application - it's way, WAY better than the Photoshop image merge for creating panoramas. It gets things right the first time and does an awesome job at it.

Never really had a problem with it in Photoshop, but I'll try it.
