from what I was told, whenever they change the displays, all the old display models go right in a dumpster. The friend actually has pulled several brand new snow blowers out of the dumpster

oh yeah... displays' a different story. Kinda like the perfume and cologne displays/testers at Nordstrom's. Once they reached close to half empty, they'd swap them out for new ones, and the old ones (that had more than half bottle left) were given away (to employees). I used to have (literally) every cologne... and the thing is... I never really wear cologne

I dont know if these were displays or not. They were in the box, and the boxs had price tags on them.

Kinda veering OT, but I remember a LONG LONG time ago when the Fender Guitar Co. was located in Fullerton California, and friends of mine said that if you went to their trash bins, you'd find guitar bodies and necks that weren't quite good enough (blemished) to be used/sold. But I think they literally ax them into pieces now.

Well considering only the tiny text on the lower left of that screen capture contains actual news, why shouldn't they have something about HDR or how Lindsay Lohan changed her hair or something right smack in the middle of the page?

Also... "bus driver caught yanking 6 year old" ?! wtf.

I have a couple questions about blowing up a photo for print....

The photo is (9328 x 2335) and I would like to make a 20x30 for wall mount.

First is it possible to blow the pic up to that size? And second, what website do you recommend for making prints?

I uploaded it to smugmug, but their 20x30 only lets me choose part of the photo and I need all of it. Also, if I remove the crop, it uses white to fill in the rest of the space above and below the photo. It doesn't actually blow it up.

Would it better if I took the file to a photo store to see if they can do it?

Thanks in advance.

You are going to have to change the ratio of the image to make it fit.

Thanks. That helps.

I was messing with the image size in ps and if I constrain the proportions, I can either make it an 8x30 or a 20x80. If I make it a 20x30 it looks squished and unnatural.

I may just have to make two 20x30 prints from the 20x80.

Crop in addition to changing aspect ratio? Or letterbox it?

No cropping...I just want to change the size of it to fit a 20X30 frame. I didn't really think this through before I shot it, as I hadn't planned on making a print. It's a 8 shot pano that my sister wanted for her wall. I don't know if changing the image size in ps is the proper tell of how the image will look in print, but when I change it to 20x30(3:2), the image looks stretched and awkward.

its tough to pan shots w/ people just because their limbs and features are moving, in addition to their bodies. its much easier for something like a car, since only the car as a whole is moving. there are certain times when you can get people pan shots, say when playing hockey, such as right after they score a goal and they are just gliding away, without skating or moving their sticks. hope that makes sense.

yeah, I know...

so, that day I went out to do what I said I was going to do, not only nothing interesting pass by... I freakin' dropped my 70-200mm f2.8 lens I was soooooooo mad at myself... It's a little scuffed, kinda cracked the lens hood, but AF is just fine. I was pretty much done at that point, I didn't really take any good panning shots, and just decided to come home (and test the lens AGAIN).

I felt like a jackass... It was kinda windy, and when it's windy out, and I have to change lens, I get all paranoid about getting dust in the lens/camera body... so I kinda didn't zip the zipper of my camera backpack up all the way... when I thought I was done, and ready to go, I flung the backpack to my shoulder and out went the lens!!! Some dude was just about to walk by, and I can see it in his face "OMG! Sucks to be you right now"

paint program like photoshop. you would make the canvas of the photo height larger, and then tell the current canvas to stay in the middle. You can do this in Microsoft Paint too.

do want.

https://www.promotesystems.com/produ...e-Control.html

yesterday I was doing some HDR's and frustrated that it would only do a max of 30 sec with AEB. then I found this, A) it lets you set as many exposures as you want and B) you can expose for as long as you want. WIN! its kinda pricey tho.
