On panning - the #1 thing I've found: Follow-through. Keep tracking the subject even after letting go of the burst. Everything else (shutter/aperture/iso) about the exposure will vary with subject and situation.

+1. It's all about the tracking and burst. I think he mentioned using a monopod in this thread or the other. I don't think that's necessary with good technique. In fact, I think it could hinder the shots.

I was gonna say the same thing - I think a monopod is not necessary and it could even limit your shots and ability. (Ive never shot with one and never had a desire to shoot with one).

On a side note, I don't know why I find tracking and burst so damn fun.

One thing you can try too is setting the * button to activate AF. So you can start tracking earlier.

I need to stop being so lazy on editing my photos.

Seriously, got stuff from 2007 to edit still...

Gonna try to edit something at least once a week.

I could probably spend my whole damn day editing, if I wanted. you might think I post a lot of photos, the truth is I post about maybe 10% of my post-able photos.

I "want to" do a LOT of sheit.

I want to do a few Blurb books (Chicago architecture, nightlife, etc).

I want to setup a store (like smugmug - actually I need to do this like, NOW (thanks for reminding) - I am shooting a semi-formal event Friday night and they will likely want to purchase individual 4x6's).

I want to print, frame, and sell my work.

I think the only thing that's stopping me, is that I'm lazy.

Buy stuff when you head back stateside?

Or have someone buy it here and ship it north ( if that would be cheaper)

yeah, I learned my lesson... what happened was, I bid and won an auction on eBay (used item). The seller said he will NOT claim it a lower value, when they failed to deliver, I had to go pick it up, and I didn't think they would actually nail me for that duty tax or whatever you call it. But there's something I can fill out and try getting the money back, I don't know if the BC government will actually follow through tho

The 5DII now has a battery grip on it. That's going to take a bit of getting used to!

Anyone know if the 1D series feels like a body with a grip added to it, or better?

Yes, it's like a small body with a grip. But IMO feels better cause it's one piece. More solid feeling.
