the cynical side in me thinks this was planned... because everyone is talking about it, guess what's going to happen on the NEXT Amazon Prime Day? MORE people shopping or at least trying to find deals like this. The loss to these "mistakes" is nothing to Amazon, but in return FREE publicity, and lots of it
Not excited about the EF mount but I know why they chose it. This is a great little cinema camera.
I bought the pocket 4k back in May and shot a feature with it. Out of dumb luck I sold it the other week right before then surprise announcement of the 6k. So, I didnt lose any money...now they are everywhere at a $300 discount.
Just noticed Flickr Pro renewal is $49. It was $24 prior, for years.
$4 a month is like meh. But damn that increase.
I have 15GB used, and use it extensively as a portfolio. That being said, I will probably continue it.
That's the way of the business model. They suck you in for cheap, then raise the price when you're invested in it. I still think Flickr is a great place to store and share your photos.
So, I just scored a beast of a desktop (PC) from a friend... I believe it's the first desktop I've ever owned... now I'm thinking I need a bigger monitor and the current 24" Dell Ultrasharp will be a secondary monitor... any suggestions of something decent that won't cost too much?

so... some of you may already know that I work part-time at a camera shop (more or less just for the discounts ) Anyways... today, this older gentleman came in asking me to figure out something on this Nikon D3200, he was worried that perhaps either the camera or lens might be malfunctioning, but I was able to figure out the problem. He was very appreciative, then proceeded to ask me if we take old cameras... I wasn't sure if he was implying perhaps trading it in (which we do). I asked him what he had to trade in, he then pulled out this old Nikon out of his bag. I told him unfortunately we don't take film cameras for trade ins, he then tells me that he just wanted to get rid of it, and just wanted to know if we recycle old "stuff"...
let's just say my hipster coworkers are soooooo jealous right now
Not sure how good the Luminar program is for photo editing, but i thought about throwing it here to see who may want to try it out since version 3 free for right now.
The 5D4, as good as (I think) it is, is SEVEN years old. That being said these days I'm out at events and people are shooting the R5 or R6 at ISO 12000 so casually and I truly realize how much of a dinosaur the 5D4 is. I still like it, but, there's no telling how much more I could up my game with the newer cameras and tech.
I generally don't go above ISO 3200 or 4000 tops on the 5D4. The A7RIII sometimes seems a little better but I still don't have any Sony lenses for it, and have only been using the Canon lenses with the adapter, and it works most of the time but it's just not reliable sometimes. That thing is not breathing at ISO 3200 - sometimes go higher, maybe I should try higher tonight.
^^^ Jared Polin is hilarious at times, some of his "Weekly News Fix" have made me laugh out loud (literally).
His reviews on the other hand... I don't care for. He bases his reviews on HIS needs... which is photojournalist stuff. And expects everyone else to have the same needs. He's always knocking down on cropping and using teleconverters (even in the video above, he's putting down a pro hockey photographer who crops a lot). He's made asinine comments before saying something like "if you're not close enough... gel closer." Well, that's not realistic for wildlife photography. You can't just "get closer" to wildlife. When he reviews camera/lens combos for wildlife, he goes to the zoo That's not "wildlife" fucking idiot.
He gets press passes to be (literally) next to the dugout, on stage with bands, and traveled with Bernie Sanders during his last campaign... got to be right there... close and personal. Yes, none of these things require cropping. But I bet when the Canon R1 comes out with higher MP, he'll be all over it.
His OCD about ONLY shooting in uncompressed RAW is annoying... because you can definitely get by shooting in compressed RAW... I do... probably 95% of the time. Yet, his reviews will be based ONLY on that... Again, just assuming that others also need to only shoot in uncompressed RAW
Who hijacked Is300eaters account?? I know he didn’t just say a canon is the best camera ….
I didn't say it was the best camera, I said it performs the best in high ISOs.
but to be honest... I still work part-time at a camera shop and I always give advice accordingly... you have lots of Canon glass, and the RF bodies (especially 2nd gen on) adapt very well... so I mentioned the R3 and R6 MkII.
If you were a customer that was starting fresh, clean slate... I wouldn't necessarily go straight to Canon... I always hear out the customer's needs first and then go from there.
