'08 Chicago Auto Show thread (pics)

Stopped by the auto show for about 2.5 hrs yesterday and took a few pics. Lot of good stuff there, I haven't gone since like '02 or '03, glad I had a chance to go back.

Anyway, just started this thread so people who went can chat about and share pics of the awesome cars they saw there.

P.S.
To anyone else going, make sure you save about an hour to go hang out at the jeep expo... lots of fun.

Jeep Exhibit

So the Jeep section was pretty cool... they had a little off road course set up and a line about 150 people long (at 10:30AM, 30 min after they open the doors). The only downside was they had drivers for you, wouldn't let you do all the cool stuff yourself. Still, most people don't experience this kind of stuff so I'm sure its pretty neat for most riders.

one thing i think is funny is how they still show the "concept" camaro...yet we all know what the real one is going to look like anyways...

and I love the LF-A roadster!!

I find it hilarious that the ZR1 they are showing off is that nice popping blue color, while at detroit it was some shitty grey color, and the spokes person they had doing the announcements was ugly as shit lol. Also the jeep display looks very impressive, they certainly didn't have that in detroit either.

fawk.. I don't think I'm going this year.. it ends Sunday and I just don't have a window to go.. and, I refuse to go on the weekend - regardless of the fact that this weekend is iffy on time too. It's honestly feeling like more of a chore to go at this point.. it will be the first time I haven't gone since the first time I went... which was 24 yrs ago.

I heard the shows have been "dull" compared to previous ones due to the current state of the automotive industry... lots of companies that have classically had a myriad of concept cars, for instance, don't have near as much this year. This may also be related to the economy, in general. A concept car may take millions to produce and develop. It isn't logical for many companies to invest that much in a one-off model in this day and age.

Do they have any A5's on display? And, do you have any pics of it?

One thing that drives me nuts about the auto show is this:If I am shopping for a car, I want to get up close and in it. GFY for having more and more cars locked up, and making cars look like they are at a zoo. Another thing, too many damn kids. Annoying. You little pricks can't afford a BMW, and neither can your toothless parents. They should run credit checks on people before they enter the show so they can only access cars they can afford. I'm kidding of course, but not really. Scumbags galore at that thing.

end rant

Yes they did. It was very nice. (i didint take pics)

The one thing i didnt like was the exposed worm drive for the power seats (when all the way back for my 6'5" carcass, and the manual tilt and telescope wheel

A5's did look nice, didn't sit in any though... rushed on time.

and I also agree with your previous rant... i hate seeing 4 yr olds sitting in M6's while mommy and daddy fight over who gets the last bite of the churro. however, that was always the fun part when I was in HS... go to the auto show and dream of one day driving away in a porsche or bimmer that I couldn't afford back then.

Yes actually. With the seat all the way back i could barley push the gas pedal to the floor and there was plenty of head room
