Tesla is the number one selling EV brand by far in the US
GM is second and they're recalling 140,000 vehicles to replace the battery pack in every one of them at the cost of billions of dollars
Ford is third and they're recalling almost every single Mach-E they've made so far because the roof and windshields are about to fly off.
These companies were supposed to crush Tesla with their supposed expertise. Where is it?
Were not even talking about how bad the competition is at software, which is critical, but these companies can't even do the basics

I'd have a lot more people blocked if that were true. I only block people that are willfully ignorant or consistently confidently incorrect. It's the same reason I block nfnsquared and skidmark, no point in arguing with someone who's clearly wrong and when presented with facts refuses to accept it. I'm not fucking with that anymore

At the end of the day there are only a handful of Tesla supporters who have actually ponied up their own money to buy a car (or two) and you aren't one of them so that says a lot about where you stand.

Tesla delivered 241,300 vehicles in q3. Quite remarkable in the wake of industry wide shortages and supply chain disruptions.

You know legacy is screwed when they start comparing themselves to Tesla and try to convince customers otherwise. Lol.

Yes. Let's root for the collapse of the "legacy" auto industry. That'll help the world economy. Idiot.
#2342
Better way is …... Let’s root for the transition of world to clean energy to help our children/ future, and the planet. If legacy wants in, they are welcome.

Much better than the cost of transporting and storing Dino juice. These theories have been debunked over and over again. Only ~10% loss during transmission and distribution of electricity. Do you want to rehash the same thing again?

I'm glad theres only a 10% loss in the transmission and distribution of electricity. But what about the environmental impacts of generating that electricity? Per the EPA, these are some:
- Emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, especially when a fuel is burned.
- Use of water resources to produce steam, provide cooling, and serve other functions.
- Discharges of pollution into water bodies, including thermal pollution (water that is hotter than the original temperature of the water body).
- Generation of solid waste, which may include hazardous waste.
- Land use for fuel production, power generation, and transmission and distribution lines.
- Effects on plants, animals, and ecosystems that result from the air, water, waste, and land impacts above.
Gasoline is obviously not clean to produce, but neither is electricity. And storing electricity...those energy cells have minerals that are mined from somewhere. Again - not clean.

The tree hugger argument 20 years ago (buy a Prius not a Hummer) didn't work then and the EV environmental argument won't work now until and unless the features, economics and usefulness is advantageous to the average consumer. The tree hugger drum beat has gotten louder and some more marginal consumers may be swayed by the environmental argument, but the average US consumer is not there yet. It doesn't matter how much you, Elon or others try to shame folks into an EV on environmental grounds, it just won't work in the short term.

It didn’t work 20 years ago since Prius was a Shi** car.
Enough people will buy this time to force a change in the behavior of Legacy (which is already happening), and that would force the remaining people to convert.

This is hilarious. I had actually given more credit to you.
Ever heard about renewable sources of energy, hydroelectric dams, etc??? US may not have it but a lot of countries in the rest of the world do.
When batteries are recycled fully, your environmental argument is negligible.
Power lines already exist and additional environmental impact because of that will be minimal as well.
Save all of these arguments for gasoline industry, that’s where they are mostly applicable. Thanks .

To get to your utopia, you have to deal with the unethical mining practices in place today. This shit is just as impactful to the environment and the people near said mines as any other type of mining.

Stop buying into the term clean energy. It doesn't exist.

Batteries are not now fully recycled nor is that planned to happen anytime in the near future.
Power lines that exist today are already overloaded and under maintained. The whole electric infrastructure needs a pretty big overhaul before any appreciable percentage of cars on the road can be EV's without it blowing up.

If you read the comments here, it looks like gas car is more environmentally friendly than electric cars. .
Even when electricity is generated from fossil fuels, an electric car is more environmentally friendly. This has been proven over and over again, but those with “concealed interests” keep bringing it up. The long tailpipe theory is bogus.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/enrique...h=3d8f575c7f26
Since many of you can’t be bothered to read it, I’ll post the relevant part here.
*************
A recent study of electric buses, but applicable to any type of vehicle, shows that electric vehicles are less contaminating than their internal combustion equivalents, regardless of the source of the electricity, and even in places where most power plants are coal fired. The reason is as simple as it is obvious: energy produced in a power plant is much more efficient than in the small engine of a vehicle, no matter how much technology has improved the efficiency of these vehicles. The average coal plant about 35% efficient, with the very best ultra super critical coal plants at about 42% efficient. Even the best combined cycle natural gas plants are about 60%, which still implies that 40% of the energy obtained from the fuel used is lost in the process of producing electricity. An internal combustion engine in a car is at best 25%, efficient, with most energy simply lost as heat. In a large power plant, the possibilities of reusing that heat are obviously much greater than in the small engine of a vehicle. When measuring so-called well-to-wheel emissions, in the case of the United States, the efficiency of electric vehicles is consistently well above that obtained even by the best and most modern internal combustion vehicles, regardless of how the electricity is obtained.
**************
There goes your argument about power generation.
This is just considering the worst case scenario. The proportion of electricity coming from renewable energy is increasing worldwide, even in the United States. So that just skews the numbers in favor of EVs even more.

Just to blow your bubble. These are not highschool projects. These are investments made by governments all over the world, just like you invest for nuclear power projects. There are some countries entirely dependent on hydroelectric power supply. Just because it is not big in USA doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. When the topography and climate is suitable, that’s is the best and cheapest option for power generation.

His point was not that EVs aren't cleaner than gas cars, the point was that generating electricity is not a clean proposition to begin with.

Wind and solar farms require a metric shit load of land to operate. Land is not free. Not to mention that wind requires wind and solar requires sun.
Think before you post.

Their logic - killing 2 is murder but killing 1 is only semi-murder. If they really cared about environment, then they should be against all energy sources that have negative impact on the environment. They dont get to pick and choose.
Comfy should start walking and biking...yet he is still driving his gas guzzling RDX while screaming being environmental friendly.... Reminds me of so much what is going on in this world right now.
