Not so "limited"?
Previous reports suggested that production would be quite limited for the all-new and upcoming Subaru BRZ, as well as the Toyota FT-86 (global markets) and Scion FR-S (North America), but now it appears that there may be a higher volume of these coupes heading from the factory than previously anticipated.
This shift comes straight from Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, president of Subaru’s parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, which stated intentions to produce 100,000 examples of the rear-wheel drive coupe (the same plant is producing all three versions of the car) in the first year of production at the same plant located in the Gunma Prefecture, Japan, according to Yahoo News via enthusiast blog FT86Club.
To date, Toyota says it has about 7,000 orders, which accounts for seven times the monthly sales target, while Subaru is reporting 2,500 orders, or just over 5.5 months worth of hoped sales. To help meet that demand the plant intends to produce 5,000 cars a month to start with, with a possibility for more ramp-up down the road if demand remains strong.

Hmmm... I guess I should go break the news to my gf now.
I would trade mine in for a MT if it wasn't a DD and most of my driving wasn't stop and go traffic 5x a week.
Its how you drive the car that makes all the difference.

According to toyobaru the car is set up in a way that even with these tires it can do great things. They want to prove that they can get it to handle well without spectacular tires, and yes it also keeps costs down
So when you replace tires with much better ones the car will be that much better.

^I honestly would've expected better mileage out of a 4-banger. Those numbers are barely better than the V6's from Ford and Dodge. If a V6 making just over 300hp gets 31mpg highway, I'd expect a four cylinder to be better than 34.

Yea the numbers aren't exceptional coming from a 4 banger. Maybe they just didnt have mileage in mind really. Autoblog did note that its better than the Mx-5 and similar to the gen coupe.

V6's with cylinder deactivation? Link?
While mileage isn't something they probably had in mind, in my head, I expect significant differences between 4's, 6's, and 8's. I wouldn't expect it to get over 40 like a Focus or Corolla, but I'd still think it should be closer to 40 than 30.

25,300 for the 6spd AT with paddles.
I know some people who went to a test event for the FRS over the weekend as they put it through an autoX course.
I still like the Subie version better.
I think both of these cars will sell VERY well.

Not necessarily outhandle an M3. Outhandle a 335i, maybe. A 5.0 GT will produce the same numbers around a track that the M3 does, but a good part of it is from the torque. The only parts where a GT is slightly slower is the bumpy/uneven transition sections where the live axle can't keep up with an IRS.

I dont think there's gonna be many options, the car itself standard will have more standards than the FRS to differentiate its self like navi and such. I think there's gonna be a sports option that adds body trim like the wing and a few other things, thats it really

Heres one thing that Im a bit leary about.
Scion dealers have to sign an agreement with Toyota that they cannot and will not mark up any of the cars. They make all their money on the accessories. If they do, they risk losing their dealership license.
Subaru, as far as I know, doesnt have that agreement with their dealers. Im scared to see if there will be any mark ups on these.

Road test form MT

I want this car!!
The only thing that can stop me is practicality... which is a big one.
I'm kinda surprised by all its got. IIRC the frs seems lightly equipped compared to this. And there is really only one option.
this seems like a much better deal than the scion and I think it shouldnt, well hopefully it wont start over 26k including destination.

To be more specific, the BRZ Limited, which adds leather/Alcantara upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, foglamps, a rear spoiler, and push-button start with keyless entry for roughly $2000 over the base Premium. And the Premium isn't so base, what with standard HID headlamps, navigation, Bluetooth phone and audio, a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
