Not to be a partt pooper or anything, but I think the TSX looks much cleaner. Ther are too many lines going on the side. Something does not work for me. I actually like the G35 much better, I don't think the G35 looks outdated at all. I guess I will have to look it in person, specially the interior, that will probably be the selling point for this car anyway.

The optional body side moldings really detract from the appearance of the car. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a character line if there will be another prominent line as a result of the body side moldings. I definitely won't be getting that. I'll just have to pray for no door dings. I'll pass on the lip spoiler as well.

That G35 looks like it's partying with the wrong crowd. Its styling compared to the others is a mess. The Lexus ES looks a bit more mature. The BMW 3-Series, what can you say? It's the perennial all-pro.

I like the optional wheels, but the wheels I have my eye on look better.

It's great to see the photos. Thanks guys!

Thats exactly my feelings on the body kit! Looks a little too much---Im betting it would look good on a black car?? I guess that will save some of us some money for other goodies! You got a pic of the rims your lookig at??

Yeah, why did Acura choose that color to put the bodykit and 18"'s on? To me, that would be the last color (Light Mist?) a sporty enthusiast would choose to "pimp" out his car. Black, silver or a blue would be a much better color to deck out....IMO.

Pics are awesome.

Thanks for the pics! I now know the A-Spec isn't for me.

I think the exterior and interior styling of hte 04TL is much better than the G35. Though I do like the G35 styling somewhat better now than when it first came out.

The body kit does nothing for the car, but maybe junk it up by distracting from the natural lines. At first, I didn't even notice it until someone else mentioned it. Look at the spoiler from the side. It looks like it's maybe an inch high. Why bother? And that lower molding on the doors has got to go!

Is this indeed the A-Spec on this car??? I thought I heard you can get a body kit and Rims as seperate add-ons

But the A-Spec is a all-in-one deal: Springs/tires/lowered/steering wheel/differant rims???

Im thnking there will be 3 types of rims? Stock/Optional/A-Spec

Agreed. The kit and wheels look very ricey. All it needs now is the gold package to finish off the look.

Does anyone know how the fog/high/low set up wil be?

Saab 9-3 uses the projector for the high & low, the free form hologen area is the fog light.

The g35 has a dedicated low beam area, the fog and high beam share a bulb.

has after market xenon kits been banned yet? I would add xenon to the fogs. With proper aiming!!

Even though he said that, it should be in a differant league for those who are going to pay 5-7K more on a car

Justin we need some more picts! Im going to have to see the gun-metal rims on the car first--I think the chromes would look better on some colors, but you were the one to see them with your eyes!! Wake up--you have slept long enough
That's exactly what this means... a different league. The demographics of the TL is very different than the TSX and the big difference is the willingness to pay the extra $$$ for the extras in the TL. Is does not take anything away to the TSX.

Justin said there were no A-Specs at the Ride and Drive. This is just a TL with Acura options on it.

I will say one thing, this car looks good with 18s on it. Very appropriate!

Tire pressure monitor is not available on the 04TL.
65,000 units will go into production for model year 04.

6spd-1/4 mile 14.88sec@ 100.8mph 0-60 6.37 sec
direct competition for the TL are ...
BMW 330I
Lexus ES 300
Infiniti G35
Audi A6 3.0
MB C320
Bluetooth...phone must have bluetooth AND hands-free profile to work with the car. You may store up to 50 pre set numbers in the cars phone book.
car has Auto lock and unlock when car goes into gear. It's programmable by the keyless link system.

Do not order your TL with the HPT option. You have to wait for the 18" whls...because they are SICK. The areo kit and rims looks like the FP package on the concept Accord coupe 6mt. The yellow car on the Hondanews web site.
Justin,

First of all, thanks for all the info you have provided on the car. This site has the BEST info on the 04 TL. I'm ready to drive to Carlsbad from South OC to get mine!

You stated: 65000 for MY04. How does that compare with the number of units sold in the past years (2002, 2003 for example). Will the car be has hard to get as some of the other Honda product... hmmm like the 1999 Odyssey for example...

Thanks for the pics Mr. Jumbo and Colin, and thanks to justin for being his usual reliable self.

Personally, I think the optional wheels look terrific. But I agree the body kit is a little over the top. My first thought was wow, but then I started to notice all the seams it creates and then I decided it looks cheap. The only exception may be a black car. After seeing these photos and reading everything that has been written recently, I think I have a good idea what car I'm going to buy in a few years.

65,000 for 04 is a ton of TL's to me! I should have one I hope.

Im almost betting that there will be a running change mid year and the tire pressure monitoring system will be added

For me I like the auto lock function, but for those of you who were asking it can be disabled (programmed) with the remote not to lock when going out of park....from above (Auto lock and unlock when car goes into gear. It's programmable by the keyless link system)

I agree on A-spec/ body molding kit being too much. Need to take a better look at spoiler - looks low - might be alright. Simpler is better IMO for this car and more luxurious looking. Gett too much crap on this car - it all looks like too much after market garbage throw on. Couldn't see all this stuff on G35, ES330, C or E class Benz, Bimmer, etc.. Get my point.

BMW kits are very understated on their sport models. I would have liked to see that on the TL.

Why on earth did they choose gold to put all the options on?

I believe TL production peaked in MY2000-'01 at a little over 60K. We had long waiting lists for the car all through '99-'01 and only occasional waiting lists (someone particular on color) in '02-'03.

I'm sure there will be a nice little waiting list for this car, at least to get certain packages, e.g. 6MT, 6MT Navi and A-Spec. I'm glad I have a deposit down!

There's always that good ol' retail pyramid....

80,000 a year at $30K
60,000 a year at $35K
40,000 a year at $40K

You get the picture, it'll depend on the price of the car. If it't too low, there will be markups and waitlists. If it's too high, discounts and general availability. This remains to be seen.

There shouldnt be a waitling list for A-spec because that is a dealer installed accessory.

After seeing the 18's, I think I will stick with the stock wheels, but I would like to lower the car with sport springs and shocks. I thought I saw that it was a stand alone option for the TL as an dealer add on. Anyone know if this is true?

I like the 18's and the small (e.g. NOT RICE) spoiler, but don't like the body kit because of the lower side ribs. I am hoping that the springs, brakes, and spoiler are separate dealer add-ons so I can avoid the body kit part of the A-spec. We'll have to see when the car is actually released.

Thank you for the pictures! You guys are the best.

The kit is a definite NO GO! The TL is a classy sports sedan, not your compact rice rocket. The split-spoke wheels, however, look awesome. I love gunmetal finish wheels, a la Volvo, because they always look clean...even when they're dirty from brake dust. ;-]

Thanks for all the pics!

For all of you who've placed deposits, what prices are the dealers agreeing to, if any? Sticker...$500 over sticker...$500 under sticker...?

The auto lock/unlock is a programmable option for the driver. If you do not like the locking feature then just do not program it into the keyless link system. You can also program how you want the drs to unlock...for example right now if you click on your remotes the first time just the drivers dr unlock, a second click with the remote unlocks all the other drs. In the TL you can set it where the first click of the remote can unlock all the drs.

The non navi display screen will show the genre, song, artist when XM radio is on.
