NEW July 28th: More Pictures of 2004 TL in high res & multiple colors!

Thanks to SSH....

INCREDIBLE ****ACURA-TSX.COM EXCLUSIVE**** PICTURES!

Here are a few pictures I took on Friday as they were loading the TLs into the transport heading back to California. Its obvious that Acura did not put a lot of effort into sneaking the TL in and out of town unnoticed. They parked on one of the busiest streets in downtown Seattle for an hour while getting the cars loaded. To me it looks like they wanted people to see it.

So what can be learned from these photos:

1. There are definitely two break specs. Brembo on the 6 speed and a lower spec on the automatic.
2. No AWD.
3. 6 DVD/CD changer in dash. Will Acura offer a video monitor for the back seat?
4. Mobile phone controls in steering wheel but non of the controls look like they are illuminated (could this be?).
5. LED rear lights.
6. Sunroof controls and OnStar (?) controls mounted up high.
7. Potential evidence of the adaptive cruise control "sonar" on the front bumper.
8. No rear-view camera.
9. No rear park control evidence.
10. Evidence of blue "ambiance" lighting in the overhead console...a la TSX.
11. Camel interior comes with Walnut wood trim.
12. Leather seating surface is perforated.
13. Standard rubber is 235/45R17

I have no problem making these images Acura-TSX.com exclusive. If someone wants to mark them up and re-post them at the top of the thread, that's fine with me.

Great shots, Nice job with rotor and caliper shots. So the HPT model is getting 17's as well??

That Gold is hella ugly. same with the Bergundy.

I think the gold (Desert Mist?) and the dark red look nice. The steering wheel is kinda chunky in the middle, but that's ok. I really wish the TSX's steering wheel rim was that thick. Nice pics!

Can the record for the most users online for a-tsx.com be broken for the second time in less than a week??

I love the (Redondo) red. I can't wait to get black though!

There's no denying that this car will be a great. I mean it will perform outstandingly I'm sure, its price will undercut the competition and it looks IMO good, not great but good.

But who here still thinks that this car will take a beating much like the TSX did in the automotive press for #1 Bland styling and #2 being FWD. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with the looks of the car and the FWD factor but the uninformed and biased media do. I think we can appreciate this TL because we are Honda afficionado's but I honestly don't believe that Honda has done enough to convince others of the same. This may not matter as I'm certain its sales will be quite strong, but in the end it will simply be another FWD bland looking sedan to most.

Looks good! Very impressed by the brakes! I still like the overall looks of the TSX better though. Just my opinion. Can't go wrong with either!

Looks pretty good to me. The wheels with the black (Brembo?) calipers seem to have 18" tires on them.

Was anyone able to determine if the steering wheel was power tilt/telescoping?

It's likely that it will get dinged over styling and engineering. The automotive press needs to start focusing on a car more on its individual merits, rather than its ability to imitate some of the more highly favored marks.

I don't care. If Acura delivers the TL at a tremendous value and it receives the favorable press that the TSX has enjoyed, I will have no complaints.

How can you be sure there 18's. I blew up the one pic in PhotoShop and can't seem to tell if its an 18. I can only see 235/45. Going by the comments at the top there 17's. Besides having the 18 styled exactly like the 17's makes no sense.

Could someone take the first picture and figure out the length, wheelbase and height of the car? You should be able to do this by assuming the wheels are 17-inchers (some folks said they were) and using pixel counts for extrapolation.

Sorry, they're 17" (see other thread). Mods, maybe we should merge all discussions of the new pics into this thread.

I can't figure out if the 6MT will come:

1. Brembo and all weather rubber standard but HPT is only RE030s
2. Brembo and 235/45R17 RE030 on HPT
3. Brembo and 18" on HPT

I did not see 18" wheels on any of the cars so I'm leaning towards #2.

"Brembo" tire:

That's the oustanding question from those who are interested in 6MT and/or HPT. Clarification on this is definitely needed

Would not having 18's be a disappointment to you future TL owners?? The HPT could have at least had a unique styling rim.

I'm presuming RE030 are Summer only tires?

Either way, great work. I will keep my fingers crossed that none of those cars were the HPT model and there are some 18"ers out there somewhere!

Sorry to post again.

I had a few observations, and am wondering if anyone had the same.

In some of the pictures, the turn signal appears to be orange/amber inside the red lens.

Looks like the car has side curtain airbags!

It looked to me on the car with the Brembo brakes, the rear calipers were the normal steel color. Could this be right?

Did anyone see what appears to be two screws or the imprint of screws in the big (not the close-up) tire shot?

Finally, 235 tires as standard. No more skinny 205 and 215's. Cool!

That'll put all 280HP to good use.

But what still disappoint me is the use of crappy Potenza RE030.

We all know most Potenza RE are the worse tires out there. RE030 only get a 4.2/10 rating and most people won't buy it again.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=Potenza+RE030

I hope the HPT package will come with better tire than this crap.

People rated it poorly because of treadwear and noise. That comes with the territory of ultra-high performance rubber. If you want quiet, get a touring tire.

EMu, don't try to look too closely at the photos.

The red inside the lens is a reflection from other tail lights in the cars from the flash of the camea (refelctors of the other tails).

Car does have side curtiain airbags, dealer confirmed this is the direction of acura (plus 04 maxima has them std).

Rear have brembos, if you lighten the picture (rear half only photo) and zoom in, you can see them faintly.

As for the tires, most have the screw marks, these are interchangeable plates in the tire sidewall molds that allow maker to change certian info on all tires, such as changing date codes, load ratings, and DOT info (this one has a few blanks, but so does the 18 tires on the maxima that I looked at in person last week). Just so you know, the red and yellow/wht dots painted on the tires are used to match tires to the rims for better ballancing out the door (matches high low spots with the rims, and high low weight areas)

Hope this helps.

Yep, still looks like an afterthought!

Doesn't anyone else think it is horrendous that the cup holders are not covered?

Emu, hold on, we agree, but I am not sure that it is not covered, that would be very out of context for Acura.

If you look closely, there is a little dimple on the inner ring of the cupholder cutout towards the front corner, to me this is indicative of a design that is intedend for for the cover to rest on (probably rubber so it does not make noise when driving). There is probably one at the back too. Look at the photo of the handbrake close up (where you can see the cup holder and perf seats).

Time will tell!

The car is hot and i want a 6 spd, BAD.

But camel is the worst interior color ever. It was shitty but in the late 80s when hondas offered it. When i sold i saw an old 89 prelude black with camel. it looks like a monkey smeared it crap all over the inside.

The all black interior is the way to go with this car.

The undercarriage picture shows no evidence of a rear differential or a rear drive shaft.

I think is rather obvious the TL will have HIDS. Considering the current one has them. And the TSX has them. And duh, the car has curtain airbags. The accord got them and the TSX. And the freakin Ferrari Enzo comes with Potenza tires.

Great pics! But I'm wondering what color the interior is in these shots. Is that the camel or the parchment? I'm not liking that color too much.
If I get the 04 TL, I'll be going for the white exterior, and if that's the parchment, I'll have to go with the quartz.

I pretty sure its camel, it a little darker and has more orange in it than parchment.

Well, it looks like Acura/Honda did it again if one of those are the HPT model. Why the heck can't they give a unique rim to their sporty models. It's the same with the RSX and RSX-S. You can't tell the diff between those 2 unless you see the badging or realize the base RSX doesn't have body colored skirts. Every other company on this planet gives at least a noticeable distinguishing characteristic to there base vs. sporty models. What's up Acura?

I like the new TL, but this is stupid IMO. I wonder if they will charge some ridiculous price for the HPT, like they do for their upcoming Factory Performance Package. Ahhhh.

I have doubts that any of these were HPT models. Was told by numerous higher ups that 18s will br on the HPT versions. The other thought is that THESE HPTs weren't fitted with those wheels. It is not out of the realm that those wheels were simply not yet available.
