I thought so. It's quite funny reading the Yeh Hyundai/Kia is the greatest company ever and can do no wrong and then you have SSFSTX doing what every company of the month can do no wrong he is into, lol.

I'll pay for the chairs and room for SSFTSX and YEH, if we can get rid of them from this thread.

Well, I just assumed by how important this board's perception of Hyundai/Kia is to Yeh, that it really worked at Hyundai. I mean why else would one go through so much trouble to post and respond as much as it does?
I admit to being a fan of BMW, but I don't remember ever coming to its defense whenever its been badmouthed around here. Mostly because I just don't care enough, however, if they made my mortgage payment for me every month, then I would work as hard as Yeh does.

Does it really matter to some of you whether or not Yeh works for them? Does it make the posts any less valid? I would have to say there is more validity to Yeh's posts than the google searching ssftsx and his random posts of superior aerodynamic mirrors, superior ground clearance and tires that last longer on Acura than any other brand

Probably would have been the same. Truth is nobody buys a car that way.
A few MPG is not going to change people's minds on the purchase.
Only a sucker would walk away from the car they really love for a few more MPG on a car they do not like as much.
The "savings" at the pump for buying a car with a few better MPG is a suckers game.
It's not Kia & Hyundai were overstating MPG by 10 MPG.

It probably would have an effect to be honest, though probably not as big as some people seem to be making it out to be. As well, you're assuming that there are other differences besides the MPG among two cars. Assuming all things being equal other than the MPG, it can tip the scales of a purchase, and in segments like midsize sedans, there's a good chance that most other things are equal.
However, if someone buys a car only because of an MPG advantage, I agree with you. I'm just saying that isn't always the case, and in some cases, the MPG advantage can tip the scales one way or another.
True, they're only doing it by 6 on some models.
In truth, I have no problems with either company, as long as they play fair. More competition in the end means that we all win since everyone will need to bring out their "A" game (look at the new Accord). However, this is the second time H/K has been caught lying about their cars likely in an attempt to boost sales. It doesn't matter what the actual impact is on the market, what does matter though is how the company is being run. If they're willing to lie about this, what else would they be willing to bend the truth on to boost sales? It's a pattern that's emerging with the company, and it should raise a red flag.

That's a bit of a fantasy.
To say that there are enough buyers out there that run across two sedans from different makers that they love absolutely equally, and all things are equal in their in terms of looks, features, warranty, & cost, etc....but the only difference is MPG?.....and the MPG is the deal maker/breaker?
Pretty much an impossibility.

Normally I would agree with you, but when gas prices remain close to $4 and 4.50 a gallon, that might be enough for a large chunk of the public to choose fuel economy over styling/like for the car. Not for me, I'm just saying for the majority of people who don't give two shits what they are driving. Plus, if their salaries aren't rising those numbers really start to add up for some people on gas.
Personally, I would choose something I like the styling/features better over a couple better mpg. But that's just me.

I disagree, a couple of MPG difference is negligible in terms of cost savings.
The fact that gas rises a dollar or two a gallon...that's still not that much money in terms of the cost of ownership.
It's just like the stupidity of people trading in their SUV to get a compact to "save money".

Not what I meant.
True, no two cars will be exactly the same, but in the most competitive segments (ie mid-size sedans) the cars are largely comparable, and usually pretty close in the feature sets. Is it so hard to believe that someone will make a decision between two vehicles that have some minor differences but are largely the same based on the MPG?
True, the actual amount of money you will save is very small, but the vast majority of the car buying public doesn't think like us. They don't really care how the car handles, if it's FWD or RWD, but they do car about how far each tank of gas will get them.
Let me put it this way, if MPG didn't factor in, why does every manufacturer put so emphasis on it both in research and advertising? Taking it to the next step, why are some willing to lie (H/K and now Ford) to improve their rating?

The Genesis sold 2397 and Equus 350.
Looks like it was good month for just about everyone. The GS sales kinda stand out along with a very strong showing for the 5 series.

I also noticed in the comparison numbers (thanks for putting those together guys!) that the ATS seems to be taking sales from everyone in that segment. Everyone is down and the only real change I can think of is the ATS.
Also interesting that the ILX is now Acura's best selling sedan. It's good to see that it's starting to sell better than at launch, and while we all know why the TSX is declining in sales, the slide of the TL is somewhat eyebrow raising.
#3136
Genesis include both coupe and sedan. so not that much impressive.
I looked around inventories level of TL/TSX. In most dealers the ILX inventories are either equal or larger than combined inventories of TL/TSX.
also check some true prices. you can get much bigger discount on ILX than TSX or Civic.
ILX is a failure for new launch car.

The sizzle in the Steak
5 series sales gave BMW the #1 sales title over Mercedes Benz for 2012.

The 5 Series selling so well this month makes me wonder what happened last month (it was last month, right?), when sales absolutely tanked. It also makes me wonder what BMW changed with the new 5 Series to boost sales. Do they have some heavy incentives or something right now?

The ILX is the number one Acura sedan seller because it's the best looking out of all the sedans. The MDX is the best selling vehicle because it's the best looking Acura vehicle. The 04-08 TL easily sold 7K a month and perennially battled the 3 series for sales leader in that segment because it was a great looking car.
Those knuckleheads at Honda motor co need to realize that design is crucial in the upscale or luxury segment because all the othe players are going to have the bells and whistles as well.

The ILX looks good?!?!?! Since when?

I know that, this was a drastic month to month change. It was right around the time that BMW got caught doing something (what it was escapes me right now) to inflate sales numbers. One month, it was really high, the next it was near the bottom of it's class.
While I disagree about the ILX being the best looking sedan Acura sells (I give that to the TSX, though I might be biased there), it's far from ugly. It's biggest issue is still the 2.0L/5AT combo.

The 5 Series selling so well this month makes me wonder what happened last month (it was last month, right?), when sales absolutely tanked. It also makes me wonder what BMW changed with the new 5 Series to boost sales. Do they have some heavy incentives or something right now?
I also noticed in the comparison numbers (thanks for putting those together guys!) that the ATS seems to be taking sales from everyone in that segment. Everyone is down and the only real change I can think of is the ATS.

They have always had great leases, so your guess is as good as mine.

ILX Is simply not competitive design wise. and there is shortage of space. the boot is ony 12.5cubic foot. the turn radius is as wide as TSX despite riding on skinny tires.

The best looking sedan in Acura line up is TSX and that's very obvious!

Hyundai Motor America Reports Record January Sales
COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 1, 2013 -- Coming off a record 2012 sales year, Hyundai Motor America today announced a continuation of that momentum by setting a new all-time record for January sales with 43,713 units, up 2.4 percent versus 2012.
Improved availability on key volume vehicles at Hyundai dealers across the nation played a substantial role in achieving yet another all-time monthly sales record. Fleet mix was 15 percent for the month.
The same trend held true with Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales as 2012's record January was immediately eclipsed this year with a best ever 5,393 CPO units, up 16.8 percent versus 2012.
"Despite some lingering economic concerns, January turned out to be a solid first month for us," said Dave Zuchowski , executive vice president, national sales. "The all-new Santa Fe Sport, recently named Best New Crossover in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine and the Elantra GT, Best New Car Under $20,000, both continue to do quite well with the Santa Fe selling 5,991, and the Elantra family totaling 12,174, up 24.4 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively, over the same period last year. We look forward to adding the all-new seven passenger Santa Fe to our line-up next month, allowing growing families an opportunity to experience the Hyundai brand."
"We've got a solid foundation going into the new year," said John Krafcik , president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "We've got a great line-up of vehicles and we're looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday when we'll share with upwards of 110 million viewers our all-new Santa Fe, our premium Genesis sedan and the surprising Sonata 2.0T."

^Hyundai didnt do as good as they wanted though. The january calendar had fewer days this year (never know how that works)
but their Daily sale rate dropped slightly. So last year would have been better had they had the same amount of days to sell their cars. Their year over year dramatically slowed compared to all previous months, and my guess is cause toyota and honda picked up their slack. And VW a ltl as well among the others. Adding onto hyundai having a good year last year.

ILX is supposed to be doing around 3K+ per month based on the original forecast. For it to be the top seller and roughly half that number really tells you how far off the mark Acura was with that thing.

I think Toyota has big advantage in Hybrids. Prius family/Camry/Highlander.
Honda has to introduce new Hybrid Accord, CRV, Pilot before its sales can take off.

"Top selling" with 1 500 units...? nothing to be proud, I believe.
Few years ago the TL was the best selling Acura sedan with 3-4 000 cars a month and the TSX the second with 2,5-3 000.
Without the new RDX the Acura brand would be selling now less than Jan 2012..
