Infinity M45

I saw one on a Target parking lot a few days ago. I had to drive around behind it to figure who made the car. I thought the head light cluster was interesting.

I thought is was a pretty cool car until I went to the web site and saw the price

Saw one the other day driving out on some back roads. Personally, looked like a 4Dr Ford Thunderbird.

That is just the stop-gap car until the new Nissan Fuga derived M35/45 comes late this year.
If you look at the features, the competiton and the price people are really paying for them (BELOW invoice) it's a very good deal. The only knock (rightly so) is the late 80ish look.
You certainly won't see many of those around - Infiniti only sells a few hundred a month. If you don't mind the looks it's a rare steal.

Definitely a decent choice if you don't mind the looks since it's got decent performance and it's quite rare on the road.
The dealership here in Denver is offering a lease of no money down and 499 a month on the M45, which intrigues me (the insurance will bite me though).

Junkster, who doesn't mind the 80's look.

I would buy it if it came with a manual tranny. You basically get a BMW545, MB E500, Lexus GS430, Infiniti Q45 (minus a couple of goodies), RL category car with an Infiniti badge for under $40K.

I really hope the '05 M35 comes with a MT cause it would be at the top of my list of future cars.

I'd prefer this M45 over a Fuga. Nissan's design has gone out the window for some hard edge, new age crap.

I don't know if I'd call it a stop-gap car for the Fuga either. More like getting the Q45 engine sold in a cheaper body kind of stop gap. It's not like they were planning on the Fuga and decided to throw in the M45 as a place holder.

Well the current M body will have a pretty short life time as models go (the Nissan it's based on has been around for a while), compared with the Fuga derived M which will probably be around for 5 years. Infiniti is just lining up it's sedan models in a sort of fashion that makes sense. G - entry, M - mid level, Q - top of the line.
I'd have to assume that the Fuga derived M must have been on their minds when this M came out (it's only a year old).
I think now that we know some of the details of the new GS (the web cast for its debut is ongoing as I type) my list for the next sedan has narrowed. Unless the they add an MT to the GS the M mighty be my next car by default.

no offense but what did you think the price was going to be - it's not a chevy. as far as the design goes - its ugly and im an infiniti fan myself. they brought it in from japan just to fill the gap until infiniti could design a mid-class sedan of their own, which now comes in the fuga or future m35/45. Its going to come with two engine variants and compete very well with the E, 5, new GS, not so sure what acura will have by then.... Personally I like the fuga much more than all the current midsize luxuries out there but thats just me....

Fuga's ugly. Other than the G35, I think Infinity is definitely an acquired taste.

I think that from the mirrors to the trunk it looks like an 03-04 RL
on the side. The front definetly looks like a cheap chevy.

Sure, they are having record sales...that's because a couple years ago, their sales practically didn't exist. I agree with tsx-mdxman, Nissan/Infiniti's cars are ugly.

The only ones I find "good" are the 350Z/G35 Coupe and the FX45. That's it. The rest are just plain horrid looking. Even the G35 sedan...I've seen a number of them on the street lately and it's styling makes me go "ugh".

I agree, I love the G35 coupe, otherwise, blah.

Correct. They couldn't possibly suck that much longer.

Another huge problem with Infiniti. In their desperate attempt to sell cars, dealers mark them down everyday. In Atlanta, the Infinti dealers are selling Q45s AND M45s for 10k off, G35c for 3500 off, G35 sedans for $26,900, I35s for $25,900 etc. These are NEW "luxury cars".

Nothing luxurious about these continuous markdowns. It KILLS a brands re-sale and image. In comparison, Lexus, BMW, Benz, Audi might have 1 lease deal ad in the paper. Yes, great deals for a good car but why buy a luxury car then?

But our good news is not just about product. As a division, we celebrated our 14th anniversary last November. And, we've had much to celebrate, including:
– Surpassing 100,000 annual sales for the first time - and, I might add, by close to 20,000 vehicles
– Maintaining the lowest average incentive spending among luxury nameplates
– Achieving the highest ranking in the 2003 J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Index Study

Somehow whats in bold print does not agree with what you are saying. Please give me the name and number of the dealer selling G35 Coupes for 3500 off. I'll walk down there to get one. The G35 Coupe is a hot car, and I have yet to find a person who was able to get one below MSRP (excluding VPP). How can you have record sales, but yet struggle to sell cars???? That shit doesn't make any sense at all.

You are very unlikely to get a G35C under MSRP. The price that folks actually pay for the car should not be a factor. I mean you could be GM or MB and pull a sticker out of thin air that no one pays or you could be Honda and have a more realistic MSRP.

What you have to look at is features vs. out the door price. Looks aside (which will always be subjective) the new (Fuga based) M45 is a very compelling car. If you were to ignore the badge (which has a lot to do with a cars value in some folks mind) and line up the M45 with BMW545, MB E500, GS430, Cadillac CTS V, A6 4.2, Jag S-type, future RL? (basically any mid sized luxury make that's AWD/RWD and V8) on paper it's a winner. We'll have to wait judgement on the drive and feel of it for definite answer.

However if Infiniti pulls that stunt that they pulled with the Q45, the M45 is destined to flop. I swear they have the dumbest marketing department on the face of this earth. The advertisement for the Q45 was virtually nil. To top that off they claimed they didn't advertise that much for the current M45 because they expected its hype and presence to spread by "word of mouth". They expected to use the G35/G35C to bait customers into the dealerships, notice the Q45/M45, and tell others about it. THey don't have the brand recognition to come even remotely close to pulling off something like that.

Speaking of sales, Car Facts Canada issued a report that says Mitsubishi had been down 53% in new car sales across Canada. I know its only the third or fourth year here but I cant see the dealerships staying afloat if this persists.

i think the M45 is understated...if they had put the V8 in the G35 it might've been a whole different story

I personally like it, both the Y34 (current) and the Fuga (next). Check this thread out that I started on the M45 over at www.g20.net: http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread....&threadid=3985

It's huge. And it's Infiniti with an "I" BTW.

Troncalli Infiniti. And they are dealing em below MSRP, I know, I came close to buying one:bubbarubb :bubbarubb . The car really looks great, I could not get past that interior (I tried) and lil things that kept it from being truly incredible. 2 years from now, when that car is below 20k, there might be one in my hands.

That is a problem too. People don't know or don't care how to spell it. It's spelled wrong. I guess Infinity the speaker maker has the rights to the name.

Anyway, there is strong rumors of bringing Infiniti to Europe, or at least the FXs/G35s and M45

i got to ride in the m45 when my folks were going to buy the G35. it's a nice car, lots of hp and cheaper than the Q45, but I've only seen 2 on the road. But, to me it looks like a Lincoln Town Car, which doesn't appeal to the younger gen like me.
