Yeah. After close inspection of the EX, one will find that it sits in a footprint almost identical to the FX; in all areas. That way, Infiniti can let the FX grow in size to compete head to head with the X5, with of course grew in size to where it is today.

Infiniti has already confirmed some big details regarding the next FX.

What they have confirmed so far:

FX37 and FX50 models.
FX50=390HP and 370lb/ft of torque.
It will stay around the same size as the current (EX is NOT the same size as the FX).
It will be lighter.
Will debut in March of 2008 in Geneva.

Infiniti/Nissan showcased a 7-speed automatic tranny at the Tokyo Autoshow. I hope the new FX gets this

I wouldn't trust that sketch since it has been out for a long long time now and deemed not official...especially since the original version had it labeled "Infinity FX" (with a 'Y', not an 'I'). Looks like someone corrected it with an 'I' at the end to make it look more real to people who haven't seen the old version.

This will take away RDX sales, and G35 sales. It looks quite good on its own, but all the Infiniti vehicles now look alike. too much alike. Very boring now. What's so special about the FX sketches?

This vehicle serves the image - you can sit up on the road higher. you sacrifice handling and mileage. you get a better interior than the G sedan. You get no utility. If I wanted a vehicle sits higher on the road, it better serves some utility function. X3 does it much better.

I'm not going to argue about the mileage part... but have you driven one? If it's anything like the FX, I'm think probably better (in handling), it should handle better than most cars

I unfortunately agree. I have had my FX for three years now and wouldn't change a thing (except the mpg).

The refresh kept it looking nice, and while I do think the trunk room suffers because of the overall design and slope, I really like the position of the driver being basically in the middle front to back of the car.

Please just make a bs 3rd row option and don't pork the new one out! The EX is ok, but doesn't hit the same feeling for me like the concept or the current gen FX.

If they bloat out the new one, then it looks like I will be changing brands again. The CTS seems to hit all the right buttons for me now. :killer:

well all the carmakers these days are making their vehicles look alike anyways. so that's not a problem for me.

but as always, looks are subjective.

also, a lot of buyers that are looking into the X3 and EX may not necessarily want the utility. i know many people, especially women, who don't want a sedan and want a small SUV-type.

If I was in the market for a new car, this would be one of the first option I'd look at.

As ugly as they are, I think the side vents are functional, however, I can't see it being too useful unless you are tracking it or something

the old one was probably my favorite crossovers. Although it needed to update the interior and luxury features to at least those of the EX (which is another car IMO)

new one looks awkward. The at least the basic shape still looks good, but the headlights are too busy, and the grill looks like a cd case that's been sitting in the sun for a little too long.
