I think he was talking about the 6-speed dual clutch tranny which sounds good on paper but in the real world it's not that great because it's reluctant to downshift?

You said "No matter how you floored"... i just proved you wrong.

Those highway fuel economy numbers for the Civic (and a lot of econoboxes lately - in comparison to midsize and fullsize sedans) aren't that good. My 3G TL Type-S (6MT) regularly averages 33-36 MPG on the highway, and it's far, FAR heavier than the Civic.
at highway speed, gearing is more important than weight if you want get good MPG...that is one of the reason why a 2800 lbs 4 cylinder s2000 will never see 30mpg on the hwy while the 3200 lbs 500hp Corvette will get 30+ mpg...

2k RPM at 80mph ftw

how? i have driven TSX at fastest speed possible for 30minutes in 3rd and it still returned 22mpg. I doubt u can floor it much more than that and get 15mpg. TSX is not going to get less than 22mpg unless you drive at 140mph.

I know Ford focus. i was testing its engine/transmission/suspension setup for $29K car.
Even my 25k old summer performance tire has better noise/handling than new Pilot Sport on Titanium.

Look at size of dash. The car is totally out of proportions.

#1. Who the fuck drives in 3rd gear at redline for 30 mins? NO CAR driving at redline will give you 22mpg except cars that dont need gas.. and u said fastest speed possible in 3rd.. that means redline in 3rd.
#2. Crusing at 140mph is not going to give you the worst MPG
#3. i can think of 10 possible ways to get 15mpg in a TSX.
#4. If i could manage to get 220 miles from a full tank in my gf's 08 civic then i can do much worse in a TSX
#5 Dont say "NO MATTER how you floor it"
#6 There are so many types of Pilot sport tires, which one are you talking about?

where i said about red line for TSX. put TSX in sport mode and you will reach triple digit speeds without touching red line in third.
Your 10 possible ways does not include high speed driving to achieve 15mpg.
Civic is economical than TSX untill certain speed at most 80mph. Once you past that speed limit TSX better aerodynamics and effortless delivery of power produce more efficient drive.
Pilot sport many types? It does not ential big difference.

whatever, but there are still at least 10 possible ways to get 15mpg, So your statement "no matter how u floor it" is not valid
Civic is economical than TSX untill certain speed at most 80mph. Once you past that speed limit TSX better aerodynamics and effortless delivery of power produce more efficient drive. really?
Pilot sport many types? It does not ential big difference. yes and btw: whatever the pilot sport is, it is better than whatever that came with your TSX all season tires. I am guessing still the same Michelin MMX whatever crap that Honda likes so much

Give importance to word "Possible" outside race track. In 2G TSX you dont need redline to achieve same performance as with red line 1G TSX. I retired my 1G TSX at 32K miles. so i know the differece when engine open up and this 2G TSX is way ahead in terms of smoothness of power delivery. you will not get 15mpg from TSX on freeway speeds even with agressive passing and slowing. that is called real driving conditions.
light weight rims/advan sport tires contribute to it but much more is engine advancement & aerodynamics.

Honda always wins. when you look at design/ features that makes car desirable. even proper location of foot rest is essential.
. It is only Honda that provides positive surprizes. Th problem is no has tested TSX with summer performance tires and lighter trims. and see how fast it responds. you can take U turns with single hand.

FWIW, my parents just purchased a 2012 Civic LX replacing my dad's 2000 Accord (totaled in a accident). Won't take delivery until later this week, but I'll update folks on what their new 9G version experience is like.

True, I tried to get my dad and mom to look at an Elantra to no avail. They did drive a 2012 Accord, Civic, and CRV. Accord too big, Civic just right in size, and the the CRV had too many blind spots in the rear.

At this stage in their life my parents want something that is consistent and reliable so the Civic won out. I looked at it in detail and frankly it's material/build quality is very similar to my brother's 2007 Civic. This is the sixth Civic for them and my brother so they're used to them to say the least.

There is nothing wrong with buying a 2012 civic for its reliability and low cost of ownership and "Peace of Mind"

But NOT for its looks, performance, features.

Make up your mind with what you wanna say!

you should have said "how matter how you floor it on the freeway", even that, i still can prove you wrong.

"Real Driving Condition" is that what the famous RDC stands for? so your RDC is driving at the Fastest speed possible in 3rd for 30 mins?

1G TSX and 2G TSX have pretty much identical performance. the same old K24 5speed auto. You made it sound like you had a D16 and the other one had a K24 or something.

And since when does TSX come with "Light weight" rims? is that what Honda told you? Advan tires? unless it is a dealer option. TSX comes with All season tires.

Ford Focus ancient 6 speed auto transmission no match for superior Honda build. Honda technology always win. Honda reputation much superior to Found On Road Dead especially with transmission rating. Honda five speed far superior.

Buyer see continue progress with Honda line. Not Fix Or Repair Daily. From superior ventilation materials to nav screens with out finger prints Honda wins.

TSX super sports car with front wheel drive. How many automaker can make front wheel drive super sports car? None. Just Honda.

Well fastest speed possible would be achieved in redline. And why AND where would you drive topped out in 3rd for 30 min?

Because he's SSFTSX, he only needs a 3rd gear on highways to win it all.

That's why Honda/Acura didn't care about rocking out a 6speed automatic transmission. Who needs 6th gear when you can instantly win with a 3rd gear.

Honda 3rd gear superior to all of Ford's 6. Third gear top speed testing on TSX front wheel drive super sports car yield better result. Fuel economy much better on TSX then Ford.
