at everyone so desperate to like this. It's unamerican not to. Looks like they modified the existing platform for IRS instead of doing a clean redesign. It is the result of a three-way between the old one, Fusion & 4 series

Really...Mustang was never ever offered in a 4 cylinder before?

Go do your homework before making asinine comments.

I have a feeling that while Ford didn't put a new manual transmission in the 2015 Mustang, the moment that Chrysler or GM puts one in the Challenger or Camaro, Ford will as well.

Which is probably worth waiting until after the first year.

I like what I see. Heritage cues with modern style. The interior design still feels a bit contrived, but a bump up in materials should help a great deal.

I wonder what the pricing will actually look like. And a turbo 4-cylinder with over 300 bhp should be fun.

Need more pics of the interior, probably have to see it in person. I think they took a huge step back with the drivetrain tunnel area, that was the cheapest looking area in the previous gen, looks even cheaper in the 2015 pics.

Love the exterior. The rear is funky though. I almost want to say the taillights look bad, even. As mentioned, red diffuser?

This year is, actually. That is to say 2014.5 ... Which is what I think Ford said they were going to call it when they go on sale in April after the NY Auto Show.

Ford's not getting my money for a 1st year car until I know they haven't bolloxed up something important ... Like the 6MT or in my case the wiring harness.

What I haven't seen is the price yet for the GT... would be really surprised if they're still cheaper than the Camaro, considering the new IRS and all. Then again I think the Camaro refresh looks like ass so it wouldn't matter much.

Having driven a Fusion with one of the Ecoboost engines, I don't expect much in terms of fuel economy. We averaged 24mpg going 80-85 mph.

Damn... I really like it. I love the interior design and exterior changes. The diffusers all around look aggressive, and the new headlights are great. The hidden B-pillar is cool, too.

It has me thinking.

Haha, me too. Imagine a FSWerks tune in that 2.3L

I'm going to guess that a 2.3L Ecoboost Mustang fairly loaded out is going to be about $36k.

You take my disapproval so personally. If I had the money for one of these, I would go for the V8. I'm also pretty young and used to 6 and 8 cylinder mustangs.

It looks a lot like what's in my Focus in terms of quality, which is to say that it's better than it's ever been in the Mustang and should be more than adequate to allay fears of another generation of garbage materials.

Its the internet, I don't take things personally. I do find dumb comments amusing.

A lot of us would take the V8...I chose it for my car...doesnt mean the other engine options are "unworthy"

Google, its a thing people use to find out information about other things. I was born the last year they sold a turbo 4, so you don't really have a good excuse about being too young to know this.

You first.

It looks really nice. I'm impressed overall. The change to the backside seems unnecessary, but it's much better looking than I thought it would be.

I've looked at tons of pics over the last day or so, but I still don't like it ; it's not growing on me. There are good bits, but not enough to outweigh the bad, for me. I don't doubt it will sell well, and I don't doubt it will be a great platform to modify, but I'm just not a fan.

After seeing the video I'm convinced I like this pony. The rear is still growing on me but I feel better about it than I initally did. The interior looks like a stark improvement over the previous gen. I love the front end and the shot of the white convertible looked great.

That's why it's great to have choices. Imagine it's 1964.5 and all you have to choose from is the new Mustang or some gargantuan holdover from the 50s..

Now that the official images are out, it does look better than it did with the pictures that leaked yesterday. I still think Ford played it a bit too safe this time around. As well, the interior looks somewhat low quality to me, but if Ford is smart the materials will look higher quality in person.

At some point I think Ford will need to take a bigger chance on the Mustang, but this works for now. All that being said, they'll still sell a ton of these.

It's going to be very hard for Ford to do that. For the same reason that GM halfassed the design of the C7 Corvette and why Porsche will have a very hard time ever changing the shape of the 911 in any significant way.

The diehard owners pitch shitfits and it terrifies the brand leadership. For all the good that loyal owners do buying new versions each time a significant revision is released, they keep the car in the past. Ford's been able to sneak a Ecoboost 4-cylinder in this car because they still have the 3.7L and 5.0L engines. So purists can just pretend the turbo-4 doesn't exist.

But if Ford had been ballsy, they would have released the Evos as the new Mustang and made it a modern halo car for the brand.

It's not to say I don't like this version. I do. But shit would have hit the fan if Ford had significantly deviated from what Mustang owners were expecting.

Sometimes, it's not good to listen to fans.

Fair points, and I don't disagree. I guess I'm just disappointed because I liked the Evos concept renders so much. There truthfully is nothing wrong with this iteration of the Mustang, it's a decent looking car that will go like hell in the upper trims and will be decently affordable. I was just hoping for "more." And because of that I'm nitpicking at what they did eventually go with.

As sad as it is, fans are already throwing fits because Ford game this version an independent rear instead of sticking with the solid axle. I can only imagine the shitstorm if they had radically changed the styling as well.

I agree with you. I think the Mustang as an Evos would have created more of a market than less but the fanatics won once again.

And a V6 version is acceptable or considered a muscle car?? The 4 cyl makes more power than most v6s.

If i were to buy a Mustang, Camaro or any type of muscle cars. It will be a V8.

That is what makes muscle cars, well muscle cars. The sound, the feel of the V8 and the raw feeling.
