Question Folding Rear Seats?

Does anyone know if the 2004 TL has folding rear seats?

i think it does fold. our TSX give up the trunk pass though for 60/40 split.... i think the TL gives up the 60/40 split for a trunk pass though. but a majority of cars, civic, accord, camry, etc... all have fold down rear seats. it would be silly of acura not to have fold down rear seats.

TL has always had pass thru instead of fold down.

I believe noise level and seat comfort is a reason why it's only a pass thru.

It should have 60/40 split, but it only has the stupid pass through. Does anyone actually use that and what is the point? The Accord sedan doesn't even have 60/40, but the entire seat does fold for longer items making it afour door two seater though. Someone on this forum (I believe) said that Honda/Acura models that are sold outside the US have 60/40, but US specific doesn't. This makes no sense, but seems to be true. The US Accord sedan, US Civic sedan and TL don't have 60/40, but the coupe models which are sold in Europe do have 60/40. The TSX which is sold as the Accord for other markets does have 60/40 too. Is there any logic to why we can't have 60/40 for our sedans?

I wish it did. In four+ years of TL ownership, I have used the pass-through a total of "0" zero times.

That is exactly the usefulness of it, "0".

Actually I have used the pass through many times in my 96 maxima.

Tilting the pass seat back, I can get PVC pipe (10 footers) and electrical conduit from the front firewall to the trunk closure.

I have even put two pattio umbrellas into it, crown molding, lumber, etc.

Without a pickup or minivan, it has worked great!

When we were looking at cars, my kids were fascinated by the various cars that had pass-throughs. Nicknamed it the "sneak-peek". I guess they're useful, but I'd rather have a full folding rear seat.

Speaking of hauling stuff around, remember that a friend will help you move, but a TRUE friend will help you move a body.

TL's have not had fold down seats for a few reasons:

1) Money.
2) Many lux cars don't have it, and it was not seen as keeping with the upscale image Acura is reaching for.
3) The fold down rear seat detracts from the rigidity of the body and adds weight.

The TSX has fold downs because it is a modified family car.

All that said, I do think it is dumb that the TL doens't have that feature. But, that is like the one desirable feature the TL doens't have!

I've used it on long trips travelling with our cats. Kitty litter/water/food in the trunk, kitty free to wander between trunk and body of car at will. Happy kitties...

OK, I cannot argue that. No animals allowed in the 04!

LOL! Never thought of that one, but a Happy Kitty makes the trip go much better.

Animals = not in my car. I require that the passengers in my car have full prudent control over all their bodily functions at all times. Therefore, SOME humans only plese.

Cats suck. The only animal that is allowed in my car is my Beagle, Jack. Beagles rule!

(Don't take offense, I'm just playing....I like cats too)

I guess the lack of a folding rear seat is Acura's way of telling us to buy a MDX to share the garage with your TL.

Not a bad idea. Dual exhaust and projector beam headlights.

<--- Lucy (left) has taken offence, and says she'll whup any beagle that comes within claw range. At 15 pounds, she means it.
