Okay, so maybe this is my anal retentive tendency rearing its ugly head but...On the "lawyer screen" judgment is misspelled as "judgement."

It's probably too picky, but why let a little mistake like that intrude on an otherwise outstanding nav system? I know Honda/Acura can afford software that includes spellcheck.

Both spellings are accepted...

What the dictionary isn't telling you is that judgement is chiefly British. I rarely see judgment spelled as judgement in US literature. Even when you type it in MS Word, it gets highlighted when you use the spellchecker. It's the practice of making an English word "American" - like changing realise into realize, colour into color, cancelled into canceled, etc. So while the dictionary is saying both are "acceptable," it's not really true.

Not sure why you expect them to get the spelling correct, they can't even get the features correct (mirrors with turn indicators, rear seat belts with pretensioners, owners manual that shows the length at 189.2", spelling errors in the owners manual, I have seen several, including "ear" instead of "gear")?

I'm chiefly British as well, and I still think it's a simply splendid motor car...

Good call, phile. I didn't know about the British angle. That's much less cynical than my reasoning.

I thought it was just a case of "common usage" overtaking correct usage. Occasionally the dictionary powers that be will adopt a variation of a word just because it's commonly misused/misspelled that way and has become "acceptable" to the general public.

It could also be that Honda buys the NAV system itself, including the software for it from someone who doesn't pay much attention to detail. Of course Honda/Acura should pay closer attention to what its vendors provide. Is the same thing misspeled on the Accord and TSX Navi?
