I feel the need...
As for the rest of your rant, pretty much spot-on with what most peeps have felt about Acura for the past few years...

Where in the world is this 5.8 0-60 time coming from? I didn't see a single reference to that last page. Yes it is slow, and I see no reason whatsoever why 30-50 or 50-70 is better than 0-60. Just for comparison, the 335i (its main rival) consistently goes from 0-60 in under 5 seconds, and that's with Audi having the advantage of an AWD launch.
That's very good news that they're lightening the future S5s though. German cars are getting fatter and fatter and fatter.

^^^^^ AWD may give the Audi's a launch advantage, but the AWD hardware also weight down the car for a quick acceleration. So I doubt AWD Audi's will have significant advantage to the RWD BMW's in the dry weather launches, only in wet weathers will see the AWD Audi's eating the RWD BMW's for breakfast.

Spied: Audi A5 Sportback

Spied: Audi A5 Sportback
Following an official teaser sketch released by Audi, we now have the very first images of the A5 Sportback, with almost no camouflage, shot in East Germany late last night. The A5 Sportback is intended as an answer to four-door coupes like Mercedes-Benz’ CLS.
The Sportback will proceed with Audi’s aim to differentiate the A5 into a separate model family. Obviously, the A5 Sportback will not remain a two-door as the coupe, but rather a five-door configuration. However, in order to be distinguished form the A4 Avant, the car might propose a more sleek design turning it into a smaller brother of the A7 four-door coupe. The A5 Sportback will be equipped with bigger engines than the standard A5, such as Audi’s 4.2-liter V8, although the most sporty version will be the RS 5, which is expected to debut 12 to 18 months after the initial launch.
Audi’s plan to catch sales and production up to BMW and Mercedes-Benz consists of enlarging the product range with 18 new models. That move will help the company reach one million vehicles sales in 2010, with a specific emphasis on niche vehicles like the A5 Sportback. The A5 Sportback will be positioned right below the future A7.

2010 Audi RS5 shows its retractable wing [Spied again]
Audi’s monster RS5 coupe has shown up once again, this time looking more production ready than the mules we saw several months ago. These photos also reveal that the RS5 will have a trunk lid spoiler that rises automatically at higher speeds.
Up front, this RS5 has a sportier front fascia with two massive air intakes on either side of the grille. Adorning the axles are 20-inch, triple spoke wheels with large, cross-drilled rotors in front and regular rotors in back. A larger, production rear bumper is also on this prototype. That bumper is housing two enormous, oval exhaust pipes — a standard on all RS models.
While there have been many rumors suggesting a V10 lurks under the hood, we have a pretty good tip that says it’s actually a V8. More specifically, it is a heavily worked over version of Audi’s 4.2L V8 tuned to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 470 horsepower.
Watch for the RS5 debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the fall of 2009.

The new Audi RS5
It was october 2008 when car magazine in UK presented this fantastic car.
There are at the moment no information about the engine, but we already know:
V8 twin turbo 4.2
8200 rmp
450 hp
1600 kg
4.5 sec. to 100km/h
I think this car is simply mind-blowing beautiful.

Gotta pay to play. IIRC usually the Audi equivalent is a bit more than the BMW equivalent, at least when you compare starting MSRP. S5 starts off a bit more than the 335i, doesn't it?

The S5 coupe in Germany start from 58 300 euro (74000 $) and in USA from

Suzuka Master
Looks very attractive. I hope it has a good power to weight ratio to be more explosive where the S5 wasn't. However as much as I'd love to have one, I think the 2.0T remains the smarter buy.

RS5 officially released
Full details of the new Audi RS5 have been released following the leaks that revealed official brochure images of the car.
The new coupe gets a reworked version 4.2 V8 engine from the R8, but with an extra 30bhp to take full power to 444bhp. It revs higher, too, and you’ll need to reach the 8250rpm redline to get the full power delivery, while the 318lb ft of torque comes at 4000rpm.
That gives the RS5 a 0-62mph time of 4.6sec and the standard limited top speed of 155mph. But Audi will raise the limit to 174mph as a special order.
The transmission is a seven-speed DSG unit, driving all four wheels. There’s a new kind of centre differential that Audi claims can direct up to 85 per cent of the torque to the rear axle or 70 per cent to the front. In normal road conditions the power split is 40:60 front to rear, and you can turn the ESP system off completely.
The whole car rides 20mm lower than a standard A5, and comes on 19-inch wheels as standard, with 20-inch rims as an option. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also optional.
As with all RS models, the RS5 gets a newly designed front splitter with bigger air intakes, and at the back there are two tailpipes on wither side of the car. There’s also a retractable spoiler built into the tailgate which rises up at over 75mph.
The car is set to cost from just under £60,000. Although there’s no set price yet, that could mean it will cost more than an M3 Coupé, its nearest rival.
