Acura NSX To be produced in 3 years.
My college professor works for Honda canada and I asked him if the NSX will ever come out an he told me that he was told that they will begin production in 3 years. I know a lot can happen in 3 years, just something to think about.

Not much of a reliable source. What exactly does he do for Honda Canada?
Anyways, they can release it anytime. They were basically done with it and now just needs to be put into production.
If they release it in 3 years then they better have changed a few things. Competition is tough right now and 3 years things quickly.

This is worth additional discussion. Do you really think this is true? I agree with the part that there is a lot of competition. But, (off the cuff) it seems to me that horsepower and supercar performance hasn't changed that much in the last 10 years? In this realm, is there that much difference between 500 - 550 - 575 HP and a 0-60 of 3.7 or 4.1? Is there that much of a difference?

No guys, it's true. From my sources very close to the Honda CEO himself, Takeo Fukui, they are still planning and developing the NSX successor. It is coming. It's going to have an even more advanced SH-AWD system, with torque vectoring even under deceleration. It will come with a V10, but they're working with the stroke right now to play with the displacement, but it will be anywhere between 5.0-5.5 liters. Early power ratings are around 600-700 horsepower. Someone may get in trouble for this, but it's also going to be equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that Honda's been working on for quite a while now, its very hush-hush. They're also toying with IMA on it too, right now they're working with an electric motor that puts out 120 additional horsepower with 160 lb. ft of torque, which will be available from idle! Oh and it's also going to weigh under 3000 lbs and its going to get a bajillion miles to teh gallon!!!!!!!

Depends. Will they be placing this up against the 370z, then no.
If they want to make it into their Halo car, then yes. IMO But i also said they need to change a few things, mostly tweaks for better track times. Never said anything about straight line speeds.
But in 3 years, track performance changes quite a bit. Especially in terms of Nürburgring times which goes hand to hand with marketing these days. So it seems.
You better bet the GTR will have more tweaks to it so it can achieve better times within 3 years.
Maybe im not giving enough credit to Acura. Guess I should wait to see the numbers before passing any judgment.

Hmph. I'll believe it only when Honda makes the formal announcement. All I hear from Honda nowadays is (and reasonably so) fuel economy and alternate energy. Until the economy really bounces back, the NSX is dead to Honda and therefore to me.

Well i know its not comming from the CEO himself but my prof. was in charge of the production plants in Canada and the U.S. for a while. He did all the ordering for the plants in North America, so hes not just some joe blow. It might not be set in stone but he obviously knows something we dont.

Wow, he's really going out on a limb there They have a virtually finished product ready to go. They've invested MILLIONS in it's development. Despite what Acura PR says, we all know it was shelved for economic reasons. If that car hasn't been rolled out by 2012-13, they will have some splain'n to do at the next shareholders meeting.
