Wiring From HU to Stock Amp

Gentlemen -

Is the audio path from the head unit to the stock amp line level or speaker level? I want to add an equalizer to increase the bass level. I am not interested in doing the obvious (like adding a sub) and want to keep things simple. The rear 6x9 speakers can pump more bass, it just needs to be boosted.....

Line level...

I am using a AudioControl 4.1 in a way similar to what you're looking to do. Works fine.

I don't know how much more bass that will produce without a subwoofer though.

Another idea .... I added Dynamat extreme to the rear deck and cross beams, fixed my 3rd brake light rattle. It sounded like the 6x9s had better response, my rattle/vibrations were gone, and there was more bass. I only had it a few days before I installed a sub. But, the stock system sounded much better with the dynamat installed. I'm sure an EQ will help. But more bass will increase rattles and vibrations. You might want to consider doing both. The rear deck was easy to Dynamat. I have not noticed any smell with the extreme.

How does the rear deck come apart? Do you have to do anything from the 'trunk side' or can it all be done from inside the passenger compartment?

I don't want to take out my box if I don't have to.

Remove the rear seat:
Pull up on the front of the rear seat cushions, they pop out.
Un-screw the center console, remove.
Un-screw the seat back anchors.
Lift seat back up then out.

Pull the C-pillar covers off.

I believe the rear deck slides foward, then up to remove off.

The only thing from the trunk side are the nuts holding the third brake light on.

I used several small pieces of Dynamat to do the rear deck.
