video on navi assembly question

All, I was reading the instructions by TypeSDragoon which are VERY good instructions but I was a little confused on one of the parts about soldering the wires to the "jumpers". The picture in reference is attached and the blurb is as follows. My question is about the jumpers. Are the instructions actually talking about the jumpers below the capacitors or are they talking about the caps themselves?

Hold the RGB converter (look at pic RGB1-3), and I labeled the 4 jumpers R G B C that stand for:

They are talking about the jumpers, not the caps themselves. Also you should ground it to the metal box instead of that clamp.

i think the "jumper" was meant to define those black and white capacitors with the letters RGBC. you solder that shielded cable here to create the outputs for the monitor.

Ahh...good, that makes much more sense. I was like jumper? where? theres no jumper... But now its clear. In any case, it would be much easier to solder a wire to the back side of the board where the capacitor lead connects to the board then trying to connect it from the side shown in the photograph. Im waiting for my AVC-RGB1, the place i ordered it from said its on back order. Hopefully they know what the hell they are talking about. Ill just have to wait and see.

dude, if its on backorder that means you arent gonna get it. Remember pioneer discontinued it and backorder means the order is with the company so dont hold your breath.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breathe. Lots of people have had them on "backorder" but didn't realize they were discontinued. You might want to find another alternative as to where to get one. I know there are some places around that will have a couple left, but you gotta do your homework and find them. Might not be easy, but there has to be some floating around somewhere.

yeah, the "jumper" thing was one of the things i was gonna change up a little a few weeks ago, but since the pioneer unit is not being made anymore, the instructions will die out

i hope it helped some people tho. i know that i've made a few phone calls across the nation to people to give them help while doing the install. so i'm at least happy that i helped some people

dragoon buddy, I went ahead and soldered the wires to the solder points under the circuit boars as opposed to the caps -- this is ok right?

jumpers

I wasn't sure where to solder the wires either when I did my navi-video mod. At first, I solder the wires to the bottom of the capacitors, but quickly found out that this is a very difficult task to do, coupled with the fact that I was using fat 18awg wire. It was a big headache.

I Strongly recommend you solder your RGBC wires to the jumpers on the same side of the circuit board as those 4 capacitors. Thats the four thin wire "staple" looking things just below the capacitors. They are connected directed to the respecitive capacitors too, so this performs the exact same funciton. They're in the same order to, RGBC looking from left to right. Connecting to the capcitors directly is just an unneeded headache. Connecting to the underside of the circuit board would be a tight squeeze for the wire.
