tweeter problem
tweeter problem
I installed some new tweeters this morning. They worked fine for a bit, but then one had some static for a few seconds and stopped working. I then took it out to see if i could find someting wrong, and it was really hot to touch. Is the tweeter messed up? could it had been incorrect wiring? thank you
The + - is'nt the real issue. You would only have a phase problem.
Were the tweets crossed-over?
Stock or aftermarkek H/U?
high or low quality tweets?
what is tweet pwr rating?
What is H/U or amp pwr rating?
Coke or Pepsi?
So many questions and only one answer.
Good luck!

To expand on one of the things miltcharlie said, if you put aftermarket tweeters in the stock locations, you need to be sure to wire some sort of crossover into the circuit, else it'll play some lower frequencies into it and that could blow it. There is a mild crossover in the stock amp, but it's probably not enough. (Elduderino includes capacitors with his tweets to perform that function.)
Yeah! What he said.
When I first replaced my factory tweets before I did a major overhaul. I did use the xover that came with the tweets and never had a prob.
So that is good advise and pretty much on the money.
Sorry I did'nt say all this before.
