TSX Tweeter Wiring Question

Hi Everyone,
I'm about to do a full audio overhaul in my 07 TSX w/nav. I am thinking of using IDC connectors to get speaker-level signal to the front 6.5's and tweeters, but am not sure how to get to the tweeters themselves. Also, I am looking to buy the speaker harnesses for the 6.5's, but do the tweeters use the same harness? If so, I'll get two packs. I'm hoping that some of you TSX people know the answer...thanks!! Jay

Very easy to get the tweeters out. Use a small, jewelry type, screwdriver to CAREFULLY pry them out. Might want to wrap the tip in a layer of electrical tape to prevent scratching anything. Not sure if the connectors are the same, I don't think they are. To run new wire, get a cable snake (or a straightened coat hanger in a pinch) once the tweeter is out, insert the cable snake into the hole and play with it for a sec. (that sounded kinda dirty, didn't it?) After a little playing, you should see it pop out of the bottom of the dash.

awesome! Thanks! OK, so if that works, then I will only need 1 set of these connectors for each door woofer. I read that the driver's side door is a pain to get a new wire through, so that's why I was thinking of using the IDC connectors. Where do you suggest to place the corssovers? I was hopin ghtat I could place them where the factory amp is, then wire out to each speaker from there. Also, what size/brand of speaker wire is suggested? I'm going to be using the 6x9's in the back but will wire them directly from the amp that'll be back there, and no rear door speakers. Thanks for all the info! October 13th is the date that this will all be happening, and I hope to photograph the process.

Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if there is a standard size and/or brand of speaker wire to run in the TSX? I haven't done na install in abuot 15 years, so I'm not sure if things have changed. I'm going to be using the IDC connectors for the front woofers, and I'm hoping to install the corssovers where the factory amp is, if there's enough room. Is wire size/brand something I should be worrying about? Thanks

no specific kind (i may run into opposition here but have been doing this for a long time and i can assure you that you will not hear a difference in 16ga wires) I'd recommend the mid-level car stuff from wal mart. especially since you're using some stock wiring. any decent 16ga wire is fine. (even 18ga would be fine)

as far as carpet, the unbacked charcoal carpet from parts express is a close match to tsx trunk carpet and is very cheap. Since it's unbacked, is very easy to work with. pick up some spray adhesive and you'll be good.
