TL Audio experts need help...
I just got a amp installed to power my front alpine components and my rear 2 way alpines wit a 65x4 amp..problem is there is a bad hissing noise. I have kept the factory Headunit and the audio place that did the install used 2 LOC and they placed them behind the factory HU. How can I get rid of the hissing. IS it casue of bose. Will I need a new after market HU just for better sound????

You don't need a new head unit to get rid of the noise. Plenty of people have installed aftermarket amps with the stock headunit and do not have your hiss problem. I'm not familiar with the LOCs out there, but it sounds like you ended up with some kind of bogus install. Yes, the stock EQ will emphasis any high frequency noise, but there should only be minimal added noise with an extra amp added. The only way that I can see this much noise added to the system, would be if somehow the LOCs knocked the level down WAY too much and the new amp is set up with WAY too much gain. Like if you knock a line level signal down to a mic level signal, then you could end up with a lot of extra hiss... especially if you unbalance the grounds in the process. Sounds like the installers didn't do things quite right to me...

That's probably a question that Iggy or someone else could answer better. Like I said, I have never actually worked with these LOCs and I am not familiar with today's aftermarket amps. I don't know how much gain reduction is possible from the LOCs and how much gain your amp has to make up for the drop in level... I guess the first thing you need to find out, either by yourself or by asking the installer, Where did they tap the signal to feed your LOCs. If they used the line outs instead of the speaker outs this could be part of your problem?
I'm not sure exactly where your problem lies... ALL I KNOW IS THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE INSTALLED AFTERMARKET AMPS WITH THE STOCK HEAD UNIT to drive the door speakers and haven't reported your hiss/noise problem. So something must be wrong. Does it sound like tape hiss? Meaning common amplifier white noise? Or is the sound something stranger than that, which might be caused by engine noise, etc? Which means grounding or unbalancing balanced lines may be a problem somewhere? Is the hiss there all the time? Even with the volume turned down? Does it increase with the music as you turn the volume up? Or does the sound completely override it once the volume is turned up? In any case, it sounds like your signal to noise is nowhere in the range that it should be.
Good luck... hopefully some other nice folks on this board can give you a few more tips as to how the LOCs/amp should be wired. Sorry that I can't really help more at this time.

Its like a loud tape hiss. I had it when I just had clarion tweeters installed wit my stock system but then it was really low and not so annoying. Yesterday I ordered the ALpine CDA7897 the one that flips out with the oversized face. I will show pics once its all installed. Thanx for the help and replys southbound.

Your welcome, although all I could do was give you some moral support. If you install a NEW head unit, are you still planning to use the added amp? In any case, you should be rid of the crappy stock system and all of its EQ/noise quirks. Hopefully you don't develop any engine type noises with the new install.

I had some hissing noise at first when installing the amp for the sub. It is because of improper grounding. It should help if you find a good solid place to ground for negative wires. Also try to use BIGGER cable for ground and +12v supply from the battery. It helps.

Got the Headunit TOday ...IT has a very thick manual. I have a 50 x2 amp to power the front compontent and the deck puts out 50x4 (20 x 4 rms) to the rear speakers. I am gonna have lots of highs still. In my back door I got the Alpine 2 ways and clraion tweeters. Yea I hope there isnt any engine noise. How do people get engine noise in the system anyways???

The ground is fine. I have 4 gauge cable then through spliter its a 8 gauge to my highs and mids amp.
Right now you have the factory system without hissing?? Or any kind of noise.
