Tang Band 6.5" sub woofers did not work out.
I am kinda bump. I attached two Tang Band 6.5" subwoofers to a set of 6x9 to 6.5 adapters that I made out of half inch thick ABS for the rear deck of my TSX. Every look great but when I power them up, they flop around like fish out of water. It was sad. I guess the Tang Band was made for sealed boxes and free-air isn't good for them.
Well, I went on the net and ordered myself a pair of MB Quart 6x9 Reference components for $180. Hope these will work out better and put an end to my quest for good bass without a box in the trunk for now. I was going to try the MA 6.5 subs but I think I will run into the same problem as the Tang Band. Also, the MA looks awlfully big. I don't think they will fit back there.
The trial and tribulation of not getting a sub in the trunk, I guess.
Thanks for listening.

Elduderino,
I'm assuming you are talking about the MBQ 6x9. I got the last pair at www.avcarexpo.com out in NJ. They got pretty good prices on MBQuarts. Call them before ordering and they will do a visual check for stock items for you. I found them through Yahoo shopping of all places.
Good luck
Nick

Yep! It was me who bought the last set of RCE-269s. I also bought their last set of PCE-216s two weeks ago. I didn't ask when he'll have new stocks.
Another good source for MB Quarts is Tweeter.com when they are on sale. I bought my PCE-164 Add-A-Woofer System from them for $199 then a week later they went down to $159, so I bought another pair and I have 30 days to return the $199 ones. I just check today and they all sold out of the PCE-164s. I guess I got lucky.

Tuan, speaking personally, the TBs seem designed for small boxes, are 8 ohm, and I don't think would drop into the TSX R deck due to the non-car frame.
While I am intrigued by the Genesis, the Genesis are WAYYY overpriced - I think MSRP is like $400. But since my drivers now are delayed again, I may have to buy some to try them out.

Hi Tuan,
I actually tried both the Tang Band 6.5 and the 6x9. Like Elduderino said, the 6x9 has a rectangular basket instead of oval so it did not fit in the TSX.
If the Genesis sells for about $400 then I'll pass. That's too rich for my blood.
