T616 Ring Problem

:smackhead I just had my firmware upgraded to R1B and I now have a problem I cannot seem to fix. When I am in the TL the phone links without any problems. However, on incoming calls I get the voice notification and the phone rings as well. Before the upgrade, I am pretty sure I only got the voice notification from the TL. I suspect that I just have a setting wrong on the phone. However, I cannot figure out which setting to change to stop the phone from ringing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You might try deleting the pairing and setting it up again from scratch ....

Maybe there is some configuration done to the phone (by the car) when they're linked up initially that got lost during the upgrade.

smoore - what you describe is normal. My T616 (old firmware) rings at the same time that the HFL announces "incoming call".

Thanks for the info. Its funny that I didn't notice the phone ringing before because I usually have it in my pocket. At least I won't drive myself crazy trying to figure out what settings to change.

Regarding the firmware version you need to have your phone on the main screen and the hit toggle right, star, toggle left, toggle left, star, toggle left, toggle left, star, select, select and the first string of numbers is your firmware version.

Regarding selecting ringing versus announcement, this can be done from the phone setup menu. I don't have the manual in front of me so I cannot recall the sequence of commands for certain to change it from announcement to ring.

zeezz - you have to say "system options" or something to get to the menu that allows you to choose voice announce rather than ring. It is not in the manual. I learned that here a while back.

I have a different problem: When I use my phone in the car not thru the HFL I cannot hear the ring on outgoing calls. Anyone experience this?

Tried the little joystick as the "toggle" but it didn't work.

Finding Firmware

Sorrry I got the sequence wrong. I was referring to the joystick. The correct sequence is >*<<*<*, select, select.

Or if in Canada you can take it to FIDO and they do a free upgrade in 1/2 hour, of course if you use their service.

Re Getting Firmware Upgrade

I am in Toronto and I am with Rogers. Rogers has not approved the upgrade so you cannot get the upgrade through Rogers (I tried). I was finally directed to S/E in Mississauga and they did the upgrade for nothing. If you are out of warranty you can get the upgrade for $40 Canadian from www.bongowireless.com which has a store in Richmond Hill.
