round 2 navigation trouble, expert needed

Ive been wanting to convert my 99 TL's hard disc navigation to DVD for about 2 years now. The first time i bought a DVD drive, it would not accept the pin. I was told it was probably a defective unit. So a year later I just bought my second DVD unit and it is doing the exact same thing. The pin that I have been given by the dealer doesn't work AGAIN!!!!! Am I doing something wrong here? Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

yes, the 4 digit security code. I've purchased 2 DVD units and neither of them accept the security code that the dealer has given me. I'm just trying to figure out whether its possible for me to have purchased 2 defective units in a row or maybe im not doing something correctly. I was under the assumption that the DVD upgrade was a plug and play swap.

Just curious since I'm not sure at all but did you try your previous code? Maybe the code doesn't change from dvd units and maybe it's built into the rom in the Navi. Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried it.

Did you try the previous code like I suggested above? Did your old unit have a code and maybe it does not change when units change?

I did, Each unit has its own 4 digit code. My factory hard disk unit works every time i plug it back in and enter its security code. But it does not work with the DVD units.

No idea unfortunately. Maybe call around to different Acura locations, explain the issue and see if they have any ideas or have seen it before?
