replacing stock headunit

wow! i'm confused as a mofo!

i thought all i needed was a harness to install an aftermarket headunit in a 2nd gen cl.

i soldered my headunit's harness (panasonic) to the honda/acura 98+ harness i bought and the unit turns on but no sound comes out.

what am i doing wrong?

thanks

i figured out which wire was the remote wire in the car (yellow white) but the sound coming out of the speakers i horrible and there is a lot of background noise and static.

is that a symptom of anything? crossed wires... etc

thanks.

the diagram on the harness says its blue but it didn't work.

so i started searching and tapping wires. ended up being a yellow/white wire.

so i connected the blue wire from my headunit to that one.

it works but there's a lot of static/noise.

1. get a voltmeter
2. check all the grounds, id ground directly to chassis on bare metal.
3. i would make sure all your connections are sound? did you solder? or use butt connectors?

i checked everything.

i soldered harness to harness.

what i ended up doing was rewire my rear speakersto bypass the amp. it sounded regular no static or background noise. i turned the radio on with only the back speakers connected.

i'm gonna reconnect my fronts through the amp and see if they sound like crap. if they do i'm gonna rewire.

thanks for all the help.

you shouldnt have to rewire your rears to bypass the stock amp...well, i didnt...
u sure its not the deck? was the deck brand new or used? If new, bring it back and have them check it out....

always ground to the chassis homey...

I cant really answer that, but i know that you can hear interference if you dont, such as your car "whining" when u hit the gas....or a buzzing sound...
