rear deck aftermarket sub?

Has anybody installed an aftermarket sub in the factory sub location? If so, which brand of sub was used? And how does it sound? I've done a search and can't find much on this.

that will not fit because of the trunk bars that are right below your stock sub. If you replace it (something that wont really help anyway), you will have to get a shallow mount sub, I belive Pioneer makes one... do a search on this site, it has been done before.

and yes, all subs need an amp.

I was thinking of cuting out the bar allowing an easy install. Also maybe cutting the hole a little bigger to fit a 10 inch sub. I just wanted to know if it has been done and how it sounds?

If you simply just cut out the bar, your trunk will not function properly. Besides, you need a freeair sub for this application. Unfortunately, there aren't many and most of them lack much output. You'd be much better off just putting a sub in in a box in your trunk.

Exactly... Those bars are what pops your trunk open, so removing them wouldnt be a good idea.

kicker RMB8 if you can still find them will bolt in. if you remove the torsion bars and install a hydrolic arm (like the hood has) it will hold the trunk open. i installed one on mine for my spoiler and future removal of the factory sub invafor of the CTS sub

I switched to a bandpass box and ported it through the sub hole. Since I have the rear wing the bars weren't and issue although I did have to bend the metal slightly to have the port fit perfectly.
