This is for my 350Z Roadster:

I have bought Focal Utopias and a Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.2 amp thus far.

Rest I may purchase-

Alpine 9835

Pioneer deh-p9600mp

Infinity Basslink

I have an iPod that I want to interface w/ the h/u. I may just get an adapter cable and connect it to the aux in and control it from the iPod itself. I'm on the fence about this. I'm not married to either of these h/u's really, suggestions would be great.

Discuss . . . .

both of the headunits listed should be able to control the ipod directly thru the ipod.. that is if you get the right adapter... pioneer has a specific ipod adapter cable and alpine is coming out with a car hub that will control the ipod as well.. other than that i would probably go with a jl stealth box over the bass link..

Yeah, your system as you describe it is kinda like that girl from Seinfeld.

Jerry: "She's a Two-Face? You mean like in Batman?"

George (with a withering glare): "If that helps you."

Personally, I wouldn't use the PG amp on the Utopias. I wouldn't get any Pioneer HU and then run Utopias. I'm not even sure I'd run Utopias in a convertible.

What's your budget?

DO NOT get the basslink.. Do not run the PG amp with the Utopia's.

The Utopia's are an amazing speaker, but you will lose a lot of SQ with a convertible. and that is what the Utopia's are built for.

as Eld asked whats your budget?

i'd go w/ the alpine over the pioneer. even though i usually love pioneer headunits, and haven't had one break on me yet (i've had the p1r, and 2 premier p930s). I really don't like their new flip out design. it feels cheap, and feels like i'm about to break it all the time..

i'm not exactly sure which alpine you are looking at. and am too lazy to look, but i think you are looking at the one w/ a really wide range of colors so you can get it to match your factory illumination. i really like that to make it look nearly stock as possible, and match the whole feel of the interior.

And i agree w/ everyone else. try something different insteard of the basslink. i've seen some nice stealth enclosures in the 350z trunk.

Good luck finding a cda-9835, they stopped making them and brought out the 9855 i believe. I just sold one of my last ones on ebay for $550 auction style. They are a reallly hard deck to come across now days and the demand is so high for them that the price has went up like crazy. I'm trying to get a few more of those; sold like 5 this week instantly. But if u get one ur lucky and it is a very good deck.

Get a Kenwood if your going to do the Ipod interface. The software is way better than Pioneers or Alpines. They offer the only HU that allows you to search MP3's. Also, you can add future codecs and stay with the current audio formats. The other current HU's do not have that option.

I don't want used/unwarranted equipment, not for that kinda scratch. I'd rather pay full boat retail somewhere for peace of mind. I doubt I'll do an iPod interface as I have yet to hear one person say it operates at a decent rate of speed. I'll do an aux in adapter on a h/u and control the iPod manually. I'm leanin' towards a 9820 since I want XM anyways and don't want shit all over my car (xm receiver, roady unit, etc.)
