TL: Quick question about factory sub
Quick question about factory sub
alright so I read the thread about if I got an aftermarket hu, I would have to do all these things to make the factory sub work. This may seem like a stupid question, but I have two subs and an amp in my trunk. Would it be necessary to get the bose sub to work with my aftermarket subs and amp? Or can I just leave the subs to my trunk?
btw I have a 03 acura 3.2tl type s

You do not run the stock sub and aftermarket subs at the same time. Take the factory sub out. Now, you have a hole that will allow your aftermarket sub setup actually get sound to the cabin.
Cover up the hole with acoustically transparent cloth like speaker cloth, as the light bulb in the rear tail lamp will show right through as a bright white light in your rear view mirror.
As I mentioned in another thread with this exact question, to use the factory sub and aftermarket subs would be a big mistake, as the interaction between the two subs would cause all sorts of interference patterns and distortion.

Well I'm getting a new head unit and I wanna know how to hook up my existing aftermarket amp and subs to the new head unit. I also want to know how to take out the factory sub so I can hear my aftermarket one better.
Right now my aftermarket subs are hooked up to the factory head unit.

oops, I fail at reading.
When you install the new aftermarket HU, run RCA wires from the back of the head unit all the way to the amp in the trunk.
If I read correctly, theres already a power wire connected.

Dear Fourthmeal, is there any way to tune the subs to have the factory sub and the new subs to work together? I am installing my own subs and amp this weekend and I was planning on tapping off the wires from the stock sub to my subs. Could I just leave the stock sub where it is, or would i have to take it out?
Do not do this.
Take it out, cover the whole with acoustically transparent cloth like speaker grill cloth (Fabric store) because the brake light shines through the hole at night, right into your rearview mirror. It comes right out with a socket set. If you leave it in, you are blocking an otherwise EXCELLENT way to vent the trunk to the cabin for that aftermarket sub.
If I haven't already posted it where you can see it, go here to learn your basics before you blow something up
