Problem With System

Ok, the wife has the TL this week and it has a problem. The amp is powering off for no reason. I have the JL 300/4 running my front speakers, Diamond M661, bridged 150 x 2. My CD changer has a power and ground wire that I simple run into the 300/4's power and ground and it powers my CD changer. Everything has been working fine. She says she can just be driving along, hit a slight bump and it goes off. Then, it will come back on, I think after another bump. I turned on the car last night and the amp was not working. Popped the trunk and kinda wiggled the wires and it came on. Now, if it was just an amp problem, why would it be shutting off the CD changer as well. When I wiggled the wires, the amp and CD changer both came on. So, it would almost seem like it is a power wire problem. Any ideas?? With her driving it this week, it makes it tough to work on so, I am trying to come up with ideas so that I know what to try when I do look at it. Thanks all.

BTW....Just thought of something. Could it be ground wire? Maybe it has come loose. I will have to check that. It makes sense.

Is that the same 300/4 that just got serviced or is that the one is the MDX. Like you said double check all the wires.

The one in the MDX is the one that I had serviced. It is running great now.

Without having the car, the ground wire is the only thing I can think of and the only thing that really makes sense to me. That could explain why the changer shuts off. The changer relies on the wires I have running into the amp to get power. If one is bad, the changer will not work.

do you have your power and ground wires going thru a dist block.. if so check all connections... make sure you have a good clean ground... from what you are saying it has to be a bad connection....

I have 4 awg. running from the battery to a distro block under the passenger seat. Then 8 awg to each amp. I have 8 awg ground wires run from the amps to a common ground point in the spare tire well.

I hope we are right. I sure hate to think another 300/4 went bad but, the fact that the changer is acting up to leads me to think it is not just the amp.

Well ground wires are fine. I took the car for a drive and the amp and CD changer would just shut down. No bumps, just shut off. Then, a few seconds later, maybe 30, they would come back on. The only thing I was able to find was in my fuse holder at the battery. It looks like some arcing has been happening. I cleaned it up and the fuse was pretty loose in both sides so, I took some pliers and bent the holding taps in just a bit. Fuse fits good and tight in both ends now. Other than that, I am stumped.

I had this problem one time. Check that distribution block. I have had wires in there that i thought were screwed down but it only caught a few strands. In time while driving around it worked itself out. Then i figured it out that i need to strip the wire some more and screw it down real good. That's what it sounds like to me. Also check your ground a remote wire too. Make sure everthing has a good connection.

The wife says it did not act up at all on the way to work this morning. She has about a 45 minute drive so, hopefully that was a good test. I am pretty sure now that is was indeed the fuse holder and the loose fuse. I guess that the where the arcing took place kept the fuse from making good contact. I hope that takes care of it anyway.

Just a quick update. The wife drove all day today and no problems. Looks like the problem was the fuse holder. Thanks to all you replied.
