One sub hits harder than the other
On of my subs hits harder than the other, very noticeably harder. Why is that? maybe i wire is loose or a connection is bad?
When i switch the positive from the harder to the other than the other becomes harder.

i've run into this from time to time at work. My first guess is that it is the subs are out of phase. Although i've seen it be anything from a bad rca, to the input on the amp has lost the ground connection thust causing the subs to play as if they are out of phase.
I'd start by checking the phase though.

Are the 2 speakers running off of seperat channels? Maybe 1 of the channels is bad? I had a 4 ch amp bridged and connected to 2 speakers with 1 bad ch that made 1 of my speakers louder than the other before. What kind of amp?

time to trouble shoot...
First did they work normall before or is this a new install?
Second you have already swapped around the speaker wires and when you did the other speaker played louder is the wiring to the speakers the same...... Like elduderino said are they wired in series or parallel? if you are not sure the differance use this <<<< LINK >>>>>>
Third once you check that they are wired the same and assuming this is an old install that worked before unplug the RCA's from the amp and swap them does this also change which one plays louder.. if it does then your problem lies from the RCA's back if not then its from your amp foward..
This will give you at least a start to figure out where the problem lies...
If its a new install I would also check and make sure the speakers are the same impedance dual 4 ohm dual 2 ohm or whatever..
You said they are in a sealed box do they both use the same common air space or is there a seperation?
Also you said that all the voice coils work fine how did you test this?
if you answer these questions then I can try to help you from here...

the box is seperated, just replaced the subs with new ones and im having the same problem so im pretty sure its not the voicecoils of the subs, both are dual 6 ohm, they are wired in parallel
please help, i will try switching around the RCAs tomorrow and see if when i switch the RCAs if the sub thats louder also switches, if it does then the amp is fucked?

if when you change the RCA's it changes which sub hits harder then it means your problem is before the amp.. if it stays the same and your sure its not the speakers then yeah your amp is fucked..

Hey man what kind of amp do you have. Also I ama assuimg you got either JL or Audiobahn cause they are dual 6ohm. So u got each sub wired at 3 ohm and then both subs wired in parallel for a final 1.5ohm load correct. Let me know the amp and maybe I can help you trouble shoot it a lil better.
