non navi to navi

someone on ebay is selling the navi system from a wrecked tsx. Can you put this in a non navi tsx to make it navi?

You probably could if you REALLY wanted to, but I bet it'll end up being more trouble than it's worth.

It looks like you'll need a few bits and pieces such as the antenna and upper LCD panel that replaces the clock but otherwise it should be doable. The price is right assuming it still works after the crash.

you cant do it supposedly.

when my stock radio (non navi) went out, i asked the dealer if i could upgrade to a navi, i even would pay the difference, but they say the navis come on certain models, and that a non navi could not be converted to a non navi

which from an engineer's mind (mine) i don't really understand why. if i were to design something, i would make sure that the interfaces would be the same. personally i think that the dealer is BSing me but there is no way i can prove it.

I called acura and they said that it couldnt be done also, but why would they go through the trouble of making the assemblies so different? The woman at acura said the wiring would get crazy

I think you could... it would be a long (and rewarding) project. I haven't heard of anyone do it before, so the only help you will get is from the service manual.

Make sure you get all of the parts! Don't forget the steering wheel buttons, voice command mic, antenna, etc.

$400 is not a bad price at all... Good luck!

Yeah..make sure you get the DVD Navi Disc player that normally sits in the back.

I bet it will be a lot of work man. But if you have some technical and electronic knowledge, it should be able to get done!!

Good Luck!!

I would bet this is going to cost more than if you put in an after-market GPS

definately CAN be done but the dealer will always tell you it cant. .Nav models and non nav models have a different VIN code....changing the nav would intern make the parts not match the VIN. Just like replacing the hood or panels and not having the VIN's match. Lowers the value of the car.
