No subs...bad idea?

I currently have the stock bose system in my 1997 3.0. I'm looking to buy the Pioneer 8400 headunit and replace all the speakers. My question is this: will I be dissapointed with my investment if I dont run an amp with subs? I plan on getting the Diamond M3 6x9's and the M3's for the door speakers as well. Am I going to be happy with that setup without subs or an amp? Also, the Pioneer headunit is high powered, so does that mean it would be fine to run the speakers with no amp and no subs? In other words, would you recommend running an amp with no subs? Or if I were to run an amp, i would definately want subs? Obviously I'm quite the newbie and any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well.. I had a 98 EX Accord and I changed out the HU (Pioneer 4100) with Infinity Kappas all around. Now, I have my CL-S and I added the sub/amp to stock system.

I would go with the sub/amp combo if the stock system is decent. Go with the Basslink as it is cheaper and seems to be giving decent results.

IMO.
