New Head Unit, and pics of the Alpine TypeR Components. Soon ill have pics of the trunk, but im not done with that yet so youll all just have to wait.

 

I liek the dash. How do u like the Type Rs. I used the last gen type Rs and the new ones to. They both sounded awesome and last year I got the Type X. Looking forward to seeing the trunk.

 

thanks! i really like the sound the type rs give. once i tune the system better theyre gonna sound amazing. i didnt realize how much of a difference they would make, but wow, these get LOUD and the stay for the most part distortion free unless the volume is all the way up, but thats too loud anyways

yeah, i gotta take it soon. not only that but the back doors dont open from the inside either :angry: so i gotta get on top of him... but otherwise he did a really nice job

 

yea he does pretty nice work... kinda sloppy sometimes but the end result is nice.

His shop is actually right down the street from me to.

 

oh, lucky you, i have to drive like 20 - 30 minutes to get to him. so its a hassle that he messed up... but you gotta do what you gotta do

Amen brother. Is the Factgory stereo up top complete dead/unuseable?

Seems like a huge waste of space to leave it up there and then eat the lower storage compartments below for the new radio. Not to mention the fact your looking down at your shifter every time you wanna mess with the radio now.

 

ok i am sorry but i think that it looks off with the stock radio up top and then the new radio in the cubby hole.. personally i would have taken the stock radio out and glassed the trim piece to make it fit the new radio.. and i probably would have went with a double din or dual din setup to make it take up the space.. also i do not like how they put the highs in the dash.. does that effect the imaging...

there is a method to my madness here.
first of all, it would be a very costly process to take out the stock head unit. you TLers are fortunate to have such an easily moddable dash, the TSX however is not so simple. the stock head unit is pretty much integrated into the dash and a/c. in the future though i do plan to undergo such an install, with a screen in place of the stock radio, but bottom line is i dont have the money for that. it doesnt bother me having the stock piece there at all, so its fine with me.
as for the tweeters, that was the stock location for them, and therefore the easiest place to mount them. they still sound good though. sure, i couldve mounted them somewhere on the doors, but again, $$$.
and its really not that bad having it so low, because i only use my iPod for it, rarely do i or will i use cds, and in which case its an easy head unit to work. in fact, its perfect because i can keep my hand on the shifter while extending my fingers to operate the head unit...
