Hey I've been searching arround for a few days looking to see how to install a new head unit. Haven't really found an exact example of my set up. I have an after market amp and sub already installed on my 01 CL. Now I just got a new Alpine head unit with an Ipod jack. I was wondering if I needed anything extra to intall this puppy. Do i need to get something to hold it in place like a surrounding for it and do i need anything else to splice it into my existing wires? I saw a thread a long long time ago where someone built and painted a surrounding for his head unit to replace the larger stock head unit. My alpine came with 2 brackets it looks to attach it onto other braces. Anyone have any input? IT would be greatly appreciated. Basically I'm wondering if what and if I need to get anything else to have a good install and have my steering wheel controls still work.

 

Based on what i have seen, i think you need a metra kit to install the new deck. Other than that seems like your set. Given you already have a wiring harness for the deck. (Metra.com)
