Need Sound System Advice

I just got my 2000 Tl a few days ago, and i'm ready to throw in a system. I was thinking a 12 inch sub with an amp, but what do you guys think. Money shouldnt be too much of an issue. Also what brands do you prefer?

I like the stock bose speakers as long as the bass isn't turned up. The stock speakers are actually really good if you add a sub and can turn the bass down on the speakers. I actually just bought an infinity basslink II for my Acura CL-S. It fits perfect in the trunk behind the rear wheel well.

A member is selling one fore $150 in the black market! Thats a steal. It's really easy to install to. You don't even need to take out your headunit. All you do is run ground and power wire, and connect speaker wire from the sub into you rear speaker wire. All together I spent $270 for an awsome sounding sub/amp. It hits clean which is what I wanted, but can also be cranked up and shake your rear view mirror. It even comes with a remote gain which I installed up by my front seat so I could adjust the subs volume on the fly

you can get a hi low but it will sound different, i had a hi low convertor in my civic. I like the bose to but now i have my screen in my car the bose dont work and i want to get some bass but not to much and i dont want it to take up any room in my trunk,

Thats why im looking for a sub that will directly fit into the old bose spot.

Your not going to change your speakers at all? im changing mine out porbably get infinty refrences or polks.

i got what you need bro, 10" adire brahma. its a badass sub. took me about a year to find one, then i found out it would not fit in my custom enclosure. This is a very rare, top of the line, unique subwoofer that very few people have.

you can give it anywhere between 500-800 watts rms everyday with no problems.

I disagree that the bose speakers are crap. Sure they aren't aftermarket speakers pushing alot of watts, but they are FAR from crap. They sound great with the bass not turned up with a sub. I don't feel any need to replace them and I listen to Rock/Rap. The only way I'de drop money on new speakers is if I was a complete bass head or listened to techno

If money isn't an issue, you have no idea what you're talking about with Kicker. lol If this was the case, I'd be going up to Digital Designs, FI Car Audio, Audiopulse, Soundsplinter etc etc

btw, I'm going to have to second about the Bose... If you have a great headunit that you can properly tune sound with, you can do amazing things with the Bose. Personally, I think Bose is a piece of shit in every sound engineering perspective, but I have the stock BLose in my TL-S and my Alpine 9835's crossovers are cutoff at 125hz, with the EQ tuned and sounds decent enough. But there is no doubt they are garbage!

Pioneer Premier subs are pretty good. I've had mine for about 2 years and I run 650 watts to it every day, no problems. The model number is TS-W126CDVC. Replace the bose speakers they are crap, IMO.

if you remove the bose headunit then replace all 4 door speakers aswell. even something simple alpine type s fit nicely but a pair of focals would be a good choice too.

If you're looking to have something mind blowing for a great price, check out edesignaudio.com. Their subs are off the hook. Great price and even better quality.

Dang the secret is out! After my IDMax (sealed), I ran Elemental Designs' subs without turning back. Used to have 2 13Ov.2s ported @ 28Hz powered with a NINe.1 amp....nice clean bass with the potential to get loud....but I'm more of an SQ guy.

While I wouldn't say the Bose system "sucks", for a stock setup it's pretty good...though my only point of comparison are the stock setups in Chevys.

I used to go crazy when it came to car audio...now I'm more laid back (probably due to hearing loss...) and the stock setup on my TL suits me fine now.

Damn you just like my friend spent 2300 on beat in a volkswagon Golf LOL! You got pics of your setup or at least the sub by the armrest?

Im thinking about putting my kicker SMB8 in the spot where the bose would go and get a basslink or a Alpine 10" but dont know how it will sound with that kicker up there

The door speakers and sub need to go but the head unit may stay for sometime, I like the in dash changer. I will change it out for a touch screen dvd in the future. Im thinking of Boston Acoustics SX60 components for the doors.

For bump im sit'n on two 400W(RMS) Audiobahn Daniel Jones SE 12's and a 800w Pioneer amp, im going to put them in soon. Its not the best but it will get the job done.

I had 3way Sony Explode 6-1/2" door speakers and 1 Fosgate Punch P1 (oh yeah old school) with a 800w pioneer amp in my Durango and it made the Bose system sound like crap

I added a Diamond 12" woofer in a slot ported 2.0 cubic foot box with a 1.5 farad cap and a class D mono sub amp. The amp is rated at 1200 clean watts RMS at 1 ohm. BUT I am running the amp at 4 ohms and it puts out 500 clean watts RMS, perfect match for the woofer. Higher ohms is cleaner and the amp runs cooler. It sounds awesome in my WDP 06 TL. Soon I am adding 4 more tweeters. Then I will have 13 speakers!!!
