Navi Screen

My 06 TL with Navigation displays "Check your disc" well there is no disc in the DVD drive, Purchased the latest disc from Acura. Tried to load it and it will not accept the disc, Removed the DVD drive and the previous owner had it out or the shop he took it to did, The top cover is missing and so were the mounting screws. I don't feel like paying $350.00 dollars to have it repaired. That kind of money will buy a much nicer stand alone navigation system today. With all that said, is there any way to access the screens other functions. It does not respond to any Self tests. The only thing displayed is the green rectangular box with " Check your disc" display. The screen goes black and the radio is inop with the DVD drive unplugged.

My 05 TL suffered the same green "Check your disc" message for the better part of a month. It recently decided to "download software" and has now upgraded to the white "disc error (unformatted) see your dealer" display error. But at least now the NAV screen's display works for everything but the map... for now. Unplugging each connection to the trunk DVD resulted in either; no power to the NAV & small display, no stereo or NAV or power to everything with the error message. With the trunk DVD drive plugged in you can still see (on the clock display) and change your audio settings using the right hand stereo button (balance, bass, treble, subwoofer, etc.). Try cleaning the dvd drive lens. There's a good write up on here. Good luck!
