Yes it is possible to add a converter. I've used the TVandNav2Go converter on an install and it worked good.

Why would you buy the OEM nav screen with no nav?

1. You wont be able to get any of your HVAC info onto it.
2. An aftermarket screen can provide MUCH better resolution. I've seen the difference.

So i can use alpine products.. explained here https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130539

I thought about getting an aftermarket screen but the only place i would put it is in the storage bin below the radio it'll take some cutting on the trim to fit it in. as for the hvac screen i can easily replace it w/ the navi one.

can you get the info from the non-navi into the navi screen? I'm not sure about that. I have re-located the OEM non-navi lcd in 2 TLs now. I just did another one this weekend. See my signature for a link.

what info? what im gonna do is replace the non navi screen w/ the navi screen. and change the clock to the hvac one. all i need to do is get the vehicle hub from alpine and a nav convter to get things working on the oem nav screen.

so i can tap the nav converter directly behind the nav screen correct?

yeah, you can get the 3 colors + sync line from the harness.

I don't think you've done the research. I wanted to replace my clock with the navi clock so I could ditch the non-navi screen altogether. It's not that simple. The navi version has completely different wiring. The harness is huge and runs across teh dashboard. I believe it has 10+ connectors on it...you need to check with some of the guys on here that did the non-navi to navi conversion.

It sounds to me like you are expecting to unplug the non-navi screen and just plug in the navi screen. I'm 95% sure it isn't possible without a lot of extra wiring. What do you plan to do with the non-navi screen? I'd be interested in buying it from you if you are going to do without it.

shit that sounds like a big headache! i was thinking i can just plug it in to work. what do you think about this? http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...products_id=91

Think it will fit in the storage bin below the radio after some trimming on the sides? I don't need the touch screen feature but just would like to have a good quality monitor that flips out.
