TSX: My humble project
My humble project
Greetings fellows acura zinist
First, I must say I'm french, from Reunion island (in the Indian ocean), so forgive the terrible spelling mistakes I'm doomed to make.
I have a 2005 accord, 2.4L executive finition, in grey. Quite standart, except it's equiped with honda Civic FN2 CTR wheels (18") (this is I guess the euro TSX version)
After two years of money saving, I have most of the part for my audio setup, and my project is close to begin.
At the very beginning, I've decided to keep the oem unit. I have the premium non navi unit btw.
So I've built the component around that.
1/ Audison Bit one
2/ Brax matrix 3.1
3/ DLS 10" Sub
3/ Genesis amp (dual mono, compact four, miniblock)
An active 3 way setup, with the sub lurking behind the back seats (in the middle of the seats actually). the audison will help the scene configuration, and the amps alongside the brax matrix should help with the rest.
I say should because I've not yet started, and I've decided to take the time now to buy... a nav' unit.
Not because of the nav (I don't need one, my island is... small), but because of the whole look it gives to the car's interior, and the fact I've be able to use my cd collection alongside an ipod with for example the DiCE.
As much as I care (a lot) about Sound Quality, I also care about how I love my car, and I kinda actually don't like it with the non nav unit look... Neither with the false wood parts (I'm still looking for black or discrete carbon parts)
I've come here to post my quest, share it with you guys (even if I'm from the lost part of the world
), and I hope to make that thread live through all my actions.
I'll post picture of my car tomorow I hope.

Thanks for the replies really!
I've made a small mistake, I'm not going to run them active with crossovers, but passive (all the frequencies are driven by the Audison bit one).
I'll have to modify the door though, since going 3 way require mods.
The Brax medium will go (if it fits) on the door panel (near the door handle), and the tweeter just a bit higher. I don't want to put them on the A-pillard because I'm not at ease with touching the airbags. So no choice but to mount them a bit lower (and not in the stock place).

Can't wait to see your results.
Going active is when a processesor (the Bit one) in this case, does the splitting of the signals into distinct paths for each woofer/tweeter... If you are going passive, don't the benefits of a Bit one/MS-8 go away? Like time alignment and crossover selections?

Bingo, if you're using a processor, definitely make sure that any speaker separate from another is running t/a.
also I believe the airbags are NOT in the a-pillar. just the symbol for them and probably part of the anchor system. But most the time, the pillar is just going to pop open and let the bag unfurl.
