New to the forums, but I do read around quite frequently. Previously had an 06 rsx with a Kenwood DDX512 w/ navi installed into it. Got into a very bad car accident where my car was totalled so ended up buying an 06 tsx.

As reading throughout all the FAQs and DIY's, I know that it will be a lot of custom work to replace the stock headunit since the controls for the HVAC and the HU are all the same. I am interested in adding a new HU into the two bottom compartments underneath the stock HU as I've seen a few other members do.

My questions are will I be able to still use the Kenwood DDX512 HU with navi and still have full functioning use of the steering wheel controls as well as the stock bluetooth? Also if not, would there be any cables or adapters that I can buy so to still have use of it. And if that is possible, is it also possible to keep the two covers on so it can have that stock/stealthy look to it. Not really looking to upgrade the soundsytem amp/speakers/sub wise, just basically wanted to know if the HU will work. I was never a fan of the portable GPS systems and I loved the Ipod interface with the kenwood unit since all I listen to is my Ipod anyway.

Maybe I've overlooked the threads where this previous information has been discussed but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I just wanna know all the facts before I decide to dive into any new projects. Thanks for any future help

 

where are you planning on mounting this head unit? i think keeping the stock would be your best bet. otherwise to get a custom one done mounted in the storage compartment/not an ashtray will run you 500+. sell your kenwood on craigslist and put that $$ towards some other mod =)
