Installer can't get dice ipod adapter to work?

Hi All,

I just got off the phone with my installer. They've unsuccessfully tried to install a dice ipod adapter and then a dice HD radio + ipod adapter into my '06 TL (no nav). They claim the units were both bad--has anyone had this experience with Dice products? I have a hard time believing that Dice would ship two bad units in a row and I'm suspecting the installer is doing something wrong.

Has anyone had problems with getting the various dice adapters to work? Thanks in advance,

Tom

I've installed many of the DICE adapters. The first couple times I installed them I couldn't get the shit to work either. And then I read the instructions and everything worked fine. Haven't had a problem since.

I hope that they unplugged the car battery first.

I don't think they did unplug the battery--I don't have the codes for the radio (bought the car used), and they said "we'll make sure we don't unplug the radio then".

Without unplugging the battery, that would cause your DICE to malfunction and other electrical components associated with your sterero. Sorry for you loss man. Try contacting the Dealer for your radio code next time.

Not my loss--I haven't given them one red cent yet. The only thing that irritates me is that they've torn the dash open twice now without results. Oh well, we'll get it working sooner or later....

Incidentally, I called Tweeter's car audio people and they said they see 40-50% of the dice units come in bad or go bad very quickly after installation. Weird.

Again, they are obviously not installing them correctly. Things like speakers do not require any brain cells from the installer. The DICE adapter pretty much requires that you read and understand the intructions and are capable of applying it to the install.

On a funny note..... Acurazine members have purchased over 160 DICE adapters since July of last year, from the Group Buy. Almost every time the purchased unit was installed "professionally" the installer couldn't get it to work. But if the inexperienced Acura owner installed it...... everything goes peachy. WTF?

dunno, but I managed to get an adapter into my previous car (honda accord) and I'm just about ready to do the same with the TL.
