Installed my 13W7 (with pics)
First off, let me say that if you're in the metro detroit area and want a quality install, Autoway in Warren in the way to go. Professional guys and they dont try to upsell. Worked with me and what I wanted and had very fair prices for everything. And stuff was installed on-time, if not early. So big props.
Its a pretty standard W7 install. I have the sealed box, JL 1000.1 amp, and a Lightning 1 farad cap. The headlights dont dim at all, but the guage cluster does alot, even on the expressway. I may look into a better battery, but for now I'll leave it alone.
I have the bass boost knob installed also, and I almost regret getting it now. Its not that it doesnt work, its that I dont really need it. lol I havent had a ton of systems, but this thing is LOUD. It seriously makes the roof of the car flex a bunch when I play it hard and it hits the lower frequencies. I have so far kept my bass level in the headunit barely about in the middle, because I need to play the componenst at max just to hear them, and since i have an in-line converter the subs get louder the more the volume is turned up.
Anyways, I'm very happy with them. Aside from having to probably take out the trunklid tension bars (hitting the top of the box) it was a trouble free install and delivers more bass than I'll ever realistically need. Now I gotta get new door speakers & tweeters, cuz it def drowns them out.

How do you get your spare?
It's good your happy. I've had my share of loud systems in other cars. I'm glad I dont have one in the CL these days.
I undo 2 screws on the side of the amp rack and move it back, lift the carpet up and pull the spare out. I have only ever taken it out for the track, and to be honest dont even have the jack in the car. I bent the threaded knob, and am too lazy to get a new one lol
And I ended up getting a hellacious deal for the stuff. I bought it as a package from a guy that had only owned it for a couple months. The sub & amp both ended up not working so i got it replaced under warranty. So for $900 I got a new sub, amp, and barely used box (not really a wear item).

I still havent removed them, but I need to. But yeah, the trunklid wont keep itself open without them, but mine doesnt pop open on its own all the way anyways since I have a spoiler.
