Installation advice from all y'all pro-feshunal audio philes!
This is actually round two (ad TL 2) for this car stereo.
I specifically would like to know what you can recommend while I'm running wires and tearing apart my car what I can do to maximize midbass and ensure the most from my components. Has anyone done the terminator mod recently? Should i completely cut away the back of the baffles?
Here's the specks.
Alpine ?(CD, MP3 player from about 2002)
Rockford Fosgate harddrive
XTant A4004 powering...
(2 pair) Polk DB6500
SoundStream TR880 powering...
(1) Adire Audio Brahma 12 in a 1foot cube enclosure
4 awg amp power and ground
12 awg sub wire
street wires zero noise interconnects
14 awg streetwires speaker wire
When I had this installed, I easily reached sub power limits which would shut off my amp (or blow the fuse). I've considered adding a 1F cap. The bass was not overpowering nor did it have as much "thump" as I hear from simple, inexpensive mtx setups.
My biggest disappointment was the "midbass". If you were listening to something with a low tone conga (bongo) I'd expect a little shake but instead it would just come through as a tone on top of the music. Is there anything I need to do from an installation perspective to improve this range?
grassy!
